I love doing favorites posts, because I love it when other bloggers do it!!
I expanded what I considered as a favorite to encompass lifestyle/fashion, too, because I’m obsessed right now with more than just beauty!
Let me know in the comments below if you love any of these items – or what you’re obsessed with right now!
Dear Katie Brown pressed glitter eyeshadow
I started my pressed glitter eyeshadow obsession in September with the Ruby May Ocean Goddess palette. But I have gone next level, folks. And I can’t turn back.
If you have never seen the glitter eyeshadow made by Dear Katie Brown you need to do yourself a favor and go check out the site right meow.
The glitters are vibrant, with so many that shift color. Some have daring larger and diamond- and star-shaped glitter pieces! I was nervous, because my eyes can be sensitive.
But these shadows do not disappoint.
The glitters do not fall out, although I may get a piece or two that gets under my eye during application. I have had a piece of glitter hit my eyeball a couple times but again – during application and I easily dabbed it out. These glitters – even the ones with larger pieces – do not irritate my eyes. I will note that I wear glasses, and I can’t speak for the comfort of those who wear contact lenses, because glitter would have driven me nuts when I was able to wear contacts.
I could spend more time sharing some of my tips and tricks for application, especially on my hooded eyes, but I plan at least one or two more posts about using pressed glitter, so I’ll share more then!
Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser
I’ve always been a big fan of Pixi, so when they started to add to their rose-infused line, I was ecstatic. Mostly because I know rose is good for my sensitive skin. Right now, my rosacea seems under control, although I have a couple small patches of eczema on my face, at my right temple. I picked up this Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser with the hopes of helping to comfort my skin.
This cleanser is very gentle, and has a soft scent to it. It is not overpoweringly rose at all, which is great. Sometimes, I get grossed out by “fake rose” scented things. This is perfect.
This cleanser has rose and chamomile flower, along with avocado and aloe vera. It’s very nice. I picked mine up at Target!
I bought my first pair of Tieks in anticipation of attending a trade show but they didn’t arrive before I left. They were a splurge at the time, but I spent a lot of time on my feet, walking when I traveled to New York for press events and events or meetings with my then-job. It was hard to narrow down which pair to get, but I picked Ruby Red Patent Leather.
I have since worn them to trade shows, and a ton of other events/activities, walking miles for hours. I have spent days and weeks at a time only wearing these shoes, and they have held up remarkably well. They helped me through two pregnancies and weight fluctuation. They are Italian leather and so well made! After five years, I splurged on a new pair of Tieks, since I had a little money from Christmas. I got the blue and foily Moonstruck pair. The leather seems to have an oil slick effect.
Tieks fit well over the obnoxious bunion on my right foot. I get no blisters from wearing them. While there is no real arch support, these are some of the most comfortable shoes I own.
They are a reliable flat shoe, and you can definitely bet, I’ll be wearing them when I staff a trade show at work next month!
“I Know How She Does It” by Laura Vanderkam
I am on the board of our women’s network at work, and one of the other members has initiated a book study on behalf of our group for this book, I Know How She Does It (How Successful Women Make the Most of Their Time).
For six weeks, we will read so many pages, and get together during lunch time to have discussions about the book. It’s not meant to be a book group, but rather using the book to better our time management across the 168 hours of our week. For this first week, I’m keeping a time log, broken down by the half hour, of how I spend my time.
I put this book among my favorites because I really enjoy where the author is coming from. She’s real in that – some of us need to figure out how to work the hours we need to, not only leaning into personal life but work life, as well. Her book is a study in how women use their time, and “move the tiles” to create time for the things they want to do.
In order to read books like this, I’ve sacrificed time blogging and on social media. So I want to incorporate more time for blogging into my life, and also add in exercise. I desperately want to start running again. I’m hoping this will help me budget my time better. The fact that I’ve got this post live is a demonstration that it’s already helping in a small way to budget my time!
Jeffree Star Alien Palette
I ordered the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Alien Palette loving the gray vibe and how it felt different from other new releases, despite how many browns I saw. There are so many neutral/brown palettes and I am not enthused when I see a new one.
Anyway – this palette has fast become a favorite.
Phone Home is one of my all time favorite colors on my lid. I love creating a variety of looks with this palette.
The shades are easy to use and blend. I’ve never been disappointed by a JSC product, to be honest.
I haven’t taken pics of all the looks I’ve done, I wish I’d captured one of the looks I did with Phone Home! This look and the look I posted under Dear Katie Brown are both using this palette.
So those are some of my favorites at the moment. Again – tell me in the comments, are any of these a favorite for you? What are YOU loving right now?!
