Urban Decay just launched a new line of lip gloss and I am here for it! I’m still into matte liquid lipsticks and creamy lipsticks but I am majorly craving glosses this spring!
Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss comes in 20 shades, in a variety of finishes. They retail for $20.
I chose six colors, gravitating toward metallic and shades described by the brand as “holographic” shades.
Some arm swatches of my choices:
I’ve worn each one, so my swatch pictures are from each of those days…which means lighting is inconsistent, but the color on the lips is true.
Check ‘em out! I’ll share thoughts on color with each swatch and share overall thoughts on wear etc. at the end.
SPL is a pretty multi-color sparkle in a light pink base. Urban Decayb describes SPL as a “holographic candy pink with iridescent sparkle.” I am not a fan how brands throw around the term holographic for products that don’t have a primary rainbow effect.
Goldmine is a gorgeous gold shimmer gloss. Urban Decay describes it as a “metallic bright gold.” I found this one built up, so I could wear it as boldly gold or as a subtle gold.
Candy Flip is described as a “holographic lavender with blue-pink sparkle.” I completely agree with the brand’s description of this gorgeous lippie!
Snapped is a gorgeous plum with purple/blue shimmer. Urban Decay describes it as “holographic deep plum with blue shimmer.” This is gorgeous!
Naked is like my lips but better gloss! It’s a pinky nude with slight shimmer, described by the brand as “nude-pink cream with pearly pink shift.” This is going to be my go-to in pairing with bolder eye looks.
Fireball is one of my favorite duochrome peachy/pinky shades and I grab it in every form UD puts it out in! It’s described by the brand as “holographic peach with pink sparkle.” I wish the effect was a little stronger but it’s another I think I’ll be reaching for a lot, it’s very complimentary against my skin tone.
These glosses are definitely comfortable, and I get the “cushion”in the name.
I love the sweet minty smell of these glosses. It’s strong at application but wears soft and not obnoxious. The scent reminds me of Orbit Sweet Mint gum.
Wear time is typical for glosses – they’re not going to last me til lunch. I felt like colors like Naked and Snapped wore gracefully off my lips, so the color stuck around as the gloss wore off.
I also love the packaging of these glosses. The tube is a rounded rectangular shape, which is different from other lippies in my collection; I especially love the clear sides, allowing me to see the product and use.
Have you tried these glosses?! Which of these appeal to you? I’d love to know!
