Vapour Organic Beauty launched two new shades in its Vernissage Nail Lacquer line for summer. Vernissage is French for “Varnish,” something I learned while prepping for this post! (Look at that, beauty blogging is educational!)
Before I continue, if you are wondering more about the brand, I posted my first review, with some background on this new-to-me brand, a week or so ago here.
Back to the lacquers at hand!
Vapour is calling on the 1950s South Beach summer era for these new shades, which seem more like safe, but pretty shades of polish. How about some swatches?!
Amour is described as a bright berry, but I do think it’s more like a muted berry pink, or a pinky terra cotta; it doesn’t scream berry to me, really. Either way, it’s a very work appropriate pink.
The formula was good on this polish, this is shown in two coats. And it’s so shiny!
Kitten is described as a bright coral, but again, it’s more like a work appropriate coral. It’s a nice shade, and it’s got this subtle shimmer!
This was also easy to apply, and covered in two coats.
Vapour says its lacquers are five-free:
- No Toluene
- No Dibutyl Phthalate (DHB)
- No Formaldehyde
- No Formaldehyde Resin
- No Camphor
The brand says these polishes are also:
- Safe for children and moms-to-be
The brushes on these polishes is on the smaller side, perfect for narrow nail beds and easy to navigate with my wider nail beds. The bottles are easy to hold while applying the polish, and I love the shorter handle/brush these have, because I always feel like I’m more in control during application with shorter applicators.
I did not wear-test these polishes yet. And I admit, I will likely wear test them when I have a work event that requires me to have neutral or toned-down nails for a couple days, which I anticipate this September. These are just not the colors I would normally reach for, but I do like the formula. I think these polish shades will appeal to an older generation, and polish lovers who need colors that are pretty, but won’t look out of place on the job. They are sophisticated polishes.
I look forward to seeing what other shades the brand comes out with, for sure!
Vapour Organic Beauty Vernissage retails for $16 for .30 fl oz. through the brand’s website here. Right now, these are the two shades of lacquer available.
So what do you think of these polishes? Are you curious about Vapour Beauty’s lacquers – or the brand, in general? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
