I admit it. When I was a kid, I was nuts about the Mouse. Mickey, that is. But being a girly girl, I adored Minnie Mouse! My prized possession from my lone trip to Disney World when I was a kiddo was a matching set of stuffed Mickey and Minnie dolls. I still have them, packed away in a box at my mom’s house!
When I saw that OPI created the OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse collection, in honor of Disney’s beloved character, I was excited to see what would be offered. The colors are meant to encapsulate Minnie Mouse’s irresistible charm in playful, pretty shades of pink and red. I picked up two of the four polishes in the collection – I have a lot of pink cremes and shimmery, bright pinks, so I passed on those two shades. I have a lot of reds, too, but this one? I could not resist it.
“OPI is so excited to collaborate with Disney and draw inspiration from one of the world’s most popular characters,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director, in a press release. “This collection brings together the expertise of OPI and the iconic style of Minnie Mouse to inspire the distinct palette of vibrant, feminine shades for summer nails will pop against summer skin in these classic, saturated hues – holding their own alongside the bold prints of the season.”
The line features a pink crème lacquer (If You Moust You Moust), one frosted red shade (The Color of Minnie), a shimmery fuchsia (I’m All Ears), and a heart glitter confetti (Nothin’ Mousie ’bout It).
Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It:
Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It is a sheer glass-flecked glitter with pink heart glitter pieces. The formula was a little thick, but I was able to easily grab hearts on the brush without major effort getting them from the bottle.
The Color of Minnie:
The Color of Minnie is such a vibrant red with pink shimmer and undertone.
It was opaque and highly pigmented. I almost hated to cover it with Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It, so I just did an accent nail at first. I loved the combo so I ended up doing my whole mani with the glitter on top:
This limited edition collection will be available beginning this month at professional salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret and ULTA, for SRP of $8.50 ($9.95 CAN) for each polish.
