How it happens in my head sometimes…
Me, opening box with Color Club Take Wing Collection: Oh my God! LOOK AT THE PRETTIES! Oh wow. Look at that, they are shimmery, oh my goodness. Woo hoo! I’m so happy there’s a yellow! And an orange!!! OH MY ARE THEY A LITTLE DUO?! These are BRIGHT. OH MY GOSH!
Yep. I’m a little excitable when it comes to nail polish. But you all knew that, right? Kinda why you’re here and all?
I’m a little delayed in getting this posted but I had a blast taking pictures of the Take Wing Collection, which is a set of gorgeous shimmery, bright-for-summer shades.
Let’s get to swatchin’!
Sparkle and Soar:
Sparkle and Soar is a gorgeous orange – she has a little golden touch to it.
Daisy Does It:
Daisy Does It is a gorgeous yellow. It also has a golden shimmer to it!
Sky High is a gorgeous blue, with a hint of purple shimmer. It’s subtle on the nail, you can see it slightly in my second swatch photo!
Fly With Me:
Fly With Me is another with a golden shimmer. This one is a spring green beauty!
Metamorphosis is a green teal with purple shimmer. It’s subtle on the nail.
Wing Fling is a searing hot pink! I actually had trouble photographing this clearly in the shade.
The colors in this collection are gorgeous, bright and shimmery! Metamorphosis intrigues me the most, with its subtle hint of purple. Teal and purple go well together!
Last summer L’Oreal released some summer polishes (I don’t remember the name of the overall collection) that were similar to these polishes in finish and color. I dug a couple out for comparison. Here’s Sparkle and Soar compared with L’Oreal Coral Starfish:
The two look very similar in the bottle, although Coral Starfish looks a tad darker.
Also, I compared bottles of Metamorphosis and L’Oreal Blue Marine:
These two are nearly identical. I didn’t get a chance to swatch the two for a true nail to nail comparison but I think it’s safe to say, that if you have the L’Oreal from last summer, Metamorphosis is a dupe.
I had no application issues with these polishes. Some were not totally opaque in two coats, but they are not super sheer, either. Honestly, this finish, and the colors, are great, juicy summer polishes!
The Take Wing collection is available now in a variety of places. The collection is featured on the homepage in the revolving carousel on Color Club’s website, and there are individual polishes from the collection on sale for $8, but I had trouble finding the set for $48. Maybe I missed it. You can also get the set, $21, or the individual polishes, $3, at Victoria Nail Supply. And on Trans Design, for $3.10 individually and $21.70 for the set. Finally, you can also get the individual polishes on the Head 2 Toe website for $3.10 a piece.
