What’s New in Beauty at QVC

Wednesday night I ventured into New York City to attend a QVC beauty press event, where I learned about all the cool, new products and exclusive sets that the shopping network has just added, or that are coming for summer – and yes, even fall and holiday!

If you read my post from last year, you know that I’m about to share some very cool beauty products! And it will be a really long one! (With some bad photos, I really apologize, it’s not my usual quality but I still saw value in posting some of the photos!)

What I love about shopping beauty through QVC is that I either find new-to-me brands to try, and often find new products from my favorite makeup, skincare and haircare companies that are exclusive at launch, or products that are totally exclusive to QVC. I have lost count how many Laura Geller or BareEscentuals makeup sets I’ve bought from QVC. The value is great, and I’m lucky – I don’t live terribly far from the network’s studio in West Chester, Pa., and I’ve journeyed to the store and actually tested out many of the products I have purchased!

But I digress! Back to the preview – I’ve broken down new products by the company. I offer launch dates/months, and prices where I have it. All dates provided are when the product is coming to QVC.

Sephora and QVC have collaborated on exclusives since 2010. Coming next Thursday to QVC through that partnership is  Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Hyperlight:

Coming in July/August is Sephora by OPI Gel Shine, a new line of gel nail polishes.

Coming in Fall is Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer:

Coming in November is Sephora by OPI 15-piece Nail Color Collection (approx. $44), which includes an exclusive mini bottles of QVC What I Mean (a rich mauve tone), it also has 14 mini bottles of popular Sephora by OPI shades (Nonfat Soy Half Caff, A True Romantic, Keep Me On My Mistletoe, Under My Trench Coat, Looks Like Rain Deer, Sample Sale, And a Cherry On Top, What Aura Gonna Where?, Metro Chic, Henna-Thing is Possible, Just a Little Dangerous, It’s Bouquet with Me, Break a Leg-Warmer! and Mermaid to Order.)

Also coming from Sephora on QVC is a Hello Kitty Handheld Mirror (approx. $35), which will be available in a silver-tone or animal print. It features subtle details of Hello Kitty’s eyes, nose, whiskers and a bow:

 Laura Geller

So let me just go all fan girl for a moment. I love Laura Geller. Not just the makeup, but the woman behind the brand. She is the most down-to-earth, friendliest person! She gave me a hug when she saw me and said she recognized me. She has a thing for remembering faces and names, and I was beyond happy that she remembered mine!

Coming TODAY on QVC Today’s Special Value (TSV) is Laura’s Glow -N- Behold, which includes her new Dream Cream Concealer and Highlighter Palette:

The Dream Cream Concealer and Highlighter Palette comes with four stripes of customizable pigment, and is available in two shades: Porcelain/Fair and Regular/Tan. Laura said it looks sueded on top, but it’s creamy when you rub your finger or brush in it:

Here’s a picture of Laura rubbing the highlighter over the blended in concealer, on the back of my hand:

Also included in the TSV is Tahitian Glow Body Frosting. You can use it all over as a bronzer.

Tip from Laura: to avoid that awkward line at your jaw between your face makeup and your neck, blend the Body Frosting down your neck with your brush! Don’t forget to touch up your ears, too, especially if you are wearing your hair up or short!

The TSV also comes with a new blush (it’s sateen, one shade vs. her typical marbelized shades) and a two-shade lipstick rich with shea butter, avocado and jojoba oils and Vitamin E. The set will retail for $54.48, all day today!

Coming soon, too, are Lip Pops. Three shades of a unique combo formula: A lip gloss that is also a waterproof stain. These come in bright-for-summer colors:

Lipstick Queen

Poppy King, the genius behind Lipstick Queen, is introducing a new three-piece, themed lipstick set called Liptropolis. It’s the first volume in her lipstick library series!

The three colors are infused with shea butter, avocado oil and jojoba seed oil. There’s Central Park, a refined peach; Soho, a fashionable red and Upper East, an elegant nude. The set will retail for $48. Here’s a shot of the three on the back of Poppy’s hand:

(Left to right, Upper East, Central Park and Soho)

I got started buying Philosophy at Sephora years and years ago, having a weakness for its yummy bath/shower/hair gels, and its “Amazing” perfumes. But I also love the brand’s makeup line, and facial moisturizers. Pre-orders have already been taken on QVC for the brand’s newest launch, Help Me, which is a retinol treatment with SPF 30. There’s one for day, and one for night, and these retail for approximately $45:

Returning this summer is the brand’s seasonal fragrance hit, Summer Grace. Here’s a pic from last year’s launch (I could have SWORN I took photos of the fragrances but I guess I did not):

A new fragrance is also launching this summer! Love Sweet Love has a light, sweet scent with the strongest note a sparkling pink grapefruit, with notes of mango and that signature musk that underlies every Philosophy scent! I can not WAIT for this to come out!

I first reviewed Wen here last year. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed using the product, and if it wasn’t for my nature as a blogger to try new things and talk about them, I’d be using it consistently.

Lucky for me, there’s a new Cleansing Conditioner coming for summer, that gives me a new reason to try it! It’s called Summer  Mango Coconut and it smells so yummy and tropical! This is 16 oz for approximately $29, and launches June 1:

Also, keep your eyes open for other seasonal scents of Wen’s Cleansing Conditioner. Although the scent is not new, the 32 oz. size of Wen’s Fall Ginger Pumpkin is a new offering this coming fall. Other seasonal scents include Winter Vanilla Mint and Spring Gardenia Green Tea.

Launching now is Six Thirteen Ultra Nourishing Replenishing Treatment, or as Chaz Dean’s sister, Joanne, told me, “Wen on steroids.” Six Thirteen includes amino acids, peptides, restorative extracts and botanicals for rejuvenation of hair, body and face! It comes in Lemon Rosemary Vanilla Bean and retails for approximately $26:

It’s actually a white bottle, but as I hinted to in the beginning, I had some lighting trouble on some of my photos!

Anyway – it smells awesome! It launches in June!

Fresh makes the interesting Elixir Ancien, which company President and Director of Brand and Product Development Lev Glazman told me is made in a monastery in France. It used to heal the wounds of gladiators and the formula has been around for 2,000 years, he said. Production is very limited, and the 1.7 oz (50 ml) bottle costs $260.

Coming to QVC in July is the same Elixir Ancien, half the size .5 oz(20 ml) and approximately $50. This sounds more budget-friendly!

It Cosmetics

I can tell right off the get-go that I’m going to love It Cosmetics. It’s a rather new company; been around 3 1/2 years. I didn’t know about it before Wednesday night. Not only is Jamie Kern, the creator, a down-to-earth, lovely person, but she created the brand out of a need for something to help cover her rosacea. Hello! I can totally relate, as my nose and cheeks can sometimes look like a minefield of red bumps and my face is perpetually red and full of capillaries.

Jamie’s best friend and PR/Marketing pro, Jacqueline, gave me a demo of their new Brow Power Perfector Gel and Powder pencil. I didn’t even realize she was using a pencil on my brows, it felt so different from a pencil. Here’s a product shot:

Here it is in my brows:

More on this to come. It’s sold in a two-pack through QVC.

What’s super new, launched two weeks ago, is the company’s first foundation, Celebration Foundation, which retails for approximately $43.50:

The pressed powder foundation contains no parabens, and contains aloe, vitamins A, C, E and K, hydrolyzed collagen, peptides and lots of other good stuff. Another bonus? The company states implicitly on its packaging: Cruelty Free – No Animal Testing.

Josie Maran

Josie Maran’s Argan Oil-based skin and cosmetic line is growing!

Coming in August is Whipped Argan Oil with a luminous sheen, retailing for approximately $30:

It looks like a great choice over bronzer for those with fairer skin who don’t like tanners, and for those with darker complexions who want a luminous glow.

Also coming is August is Self-Heating Argan Oil Hair Treatment, retailing for approximately $36:

Again, sorry for the horrifically yellow pictures!

Finally, the product I’m most excited to review and share with you, soon, is Argan Daily Moisturizer, Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Tinted Lotion – a color-correcting, sun-protecting moisturizer. This will also launch in August:

Heads up on this one – I wore it and didn’t feel like I needed makeup over it. Amazing for me and my rosacea!!!

Mally Beauty

Mally Roncal just turned 40 and you would never guess it. Nor would you guess that she’s had kids. She looks amazing! And her beauty line is growing with her as she ages gracefully.

This month Mally is going to have a TSV (I’ve been told I can hint at the date…stay tuned later in the month!) on a trio of anti-aging makeup products, including Face Defender Foundation (approximately $45), Perfect Prep Primer with SPF 15 and Age-Renewal Concealer:

I can’t wait to see what the deal is on this set.

Also new, having launched in April, is Mally’s 24/7 Professional Gel Nail System. It retails for approximately $165 and includes everything you need for DIY gel manis at home, including three polish shades. Don’t worry – Mally and product development are in the lab, working on 25 more new shades to launch later this year, in addition to the nine that are currently available.

Tarte has some exciting launches coming up!

The company is broadening its success with Maracuja Oil and offering a roller ball, TSA & travel-friendly size of the moisturizer:

This will retail for approximately $22, and appear in a TSV this July!

Also available in July will be Maracuja Miracle Foundation – at QVC, you will get the foundation and an exclusive brush:

This will retail for approximately $44.50. The foundation will be available in five shades, but it will be launching outside of QVC eventually, and available in 10 shades. The brush is the exclusive.

Finally, Tarte is launching Rainforest Glow, a hydrating body bronzer that will retail for about $34.

Algenist is a new-to-me skin care brand that is a line of anti-aging products formulated with a breakthrough ingredient, alguronic acid. Biotechnology scientists discovered it after studying thousands of microalgae strains for renewable energy solutions. Check out the ingredient:

Now check out the product launching in June – This is Targeted Deep Wrinkle Minimizer (.5 oz), which retails for approximately $45:

There are long-term benefits, but the cool thing about this wrinkle minimizer is you see results right away. It  can be used under makeup and moisturizers.

Perricone MD

Nicholas Perricone, MD, the dermatologist behind Perricone MD skincare, is introducing Vitamin C Ester 15, a 15% concentration of vitamin C ester. It’s a night time treatment that promises to firm and provide skin a youthful glow. It launches in June, and will retail for approximately $120.

Make Up For Ever

Did you know that Make Up For Ever is designed to provide women the quality of a professional brand with the convenience of products that can be applied in a cab or subway train?!

Coming on QVC the end of May are Aqua Shadow sticks that will come as a duo (Taupe/Brown or Beige/Copper) and retail for approximately $29:

Head Makeup Artist Lijha Stewart ran the darker shade on the back of her hand, then the lighter shade below it, and then rubbed them together in the middle to create a perfectly blended look. She advises that you use these over your favorite eye primer.

Bliss has launched new wax strips on QVC! Poetic Waxing Wax Strips for the Face and Body, to be exact:

You heat the strips up between your hands, pull off the paper backing, apply, rub and pull. It’s simple!

Next to the strips is Bliss’ popular Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask. It’s one of their best sellers, and has 50 facials per 3.4 oz bottle! It starts out as a gel but check out how it oxidizes:

Also coming is Incredi-‘peel’ Resurfacing Overnight Peel Pads, retailing for approximately $73.50. You clean your skin, use the pads and let it sink in, then use your night cream. It’s safe for sensitive skin (of course I inquired!) but you have to test it out to see how your facial skin handles it.

Alterna is a haircare brand that’s been around since 1997. Coming to QVC exclusively in September is a duo of hair treatments from the brand’s Caviar line: Perfect Blow Out Creme and Perfect Iron Spray:

The unique concept behind these products is that while all heat-activated sprays and similar styling cremes lock out humidity, these two lock in moisture. The duo will retail for approximately $40.

Phew. I didn’t even cover all the brands that have new beauty products coming out! But I wanted to do another round-up post like last year, and then do individual reviews on some of these products as I wear them and test them out.

So what do you think about what’s coming down the pipeline at QVC? Are you excited for anything in particular? I can’t wait for Philosophy’s new perfume, and you bet I’ll be getting Laura’s TSV today!
