Why is there a picture of a ginormous baked good at the top of a weight loss journey blog post, you may wonder (and on this blog, you are probably not wondering for the first time!)
It’s there because it’s what I wanted to indulge in this week! And it’s a reminder that a weight loss journey is about incorporating the things you love – in moderation!
As Mike and I continue to figure things out and work on our relationship, we decided on Sunday to have our first outing – actually, our first face-to-face get together and talk in more than a week – at Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia. When we arrived, I picked up a cappuccino from Old City Coffee, and we both ordered a red velvet whoopie pie from Flying Monkey – which is why there’s a picture of one at the top of this post! We sat and ate our “breakfast,” chatting and catching up. The whoopie pie was delicious, rich and totally satisfied my occasional need for sweets!
We walked around for a bit before we settled on our lunch choices. Mike had a Reuben from Hershel’s, and I had a roast beef and provolone sandwich from Dinics. I was pleased that the beef was pretty lean. I couldn’t even eat a half, it was so big! Mike’s sandwich was phenomenal. The corned beef was seriously amazing. And the guy behind the counter was great; he brought us some pastrami to sample, and I have to admit that I’ve never tasted pastrami so tender and flavorful. I think Mike’s sandwich was a definite win over mine!
Here’s a picture of the pastrami:
It. Was. Good. Melted in your mouth. Just amazing.
So, why am I telling you about the indulgences I’ve made? Well, I am back on track and making it my goal to lose 20 to 25 more lbs. before CosmoProf in July (hopefully I will be able to go and bring you all the fall/winter/holiday polish news that I was able to last year!). In order to accomplish my weight loss goals, I need to make sure I indulge in something I enjoy once a week – it’s important to make myself feel like I am not deprived. Banishing all sweets and good eats is just a set up for failure, in my opinion!
How’s that philosophy working out for me?
Weight at start of the week: 200.2 lbs.
Weight at end of the week: 197.2 lbs.
That’s a total of 3 lbs lost, for a grand total of 23 lbs down. I’m baaaack!
Goals for the coming week:
- Sign up for a 5K to run in May! (I’m in the middle of week 6 of the 8-week training program)
- Hit the gym four times this week
- Make my weight loss total 25 lbs this week!
I love looking at my goals and feeling determined to accomplish them! What are you determined to accomplish this week?
And tell me, if you are trying to lose weight, too, do you schedule in some indulgences, too?! What works for you – and what do you like to indulge in?! Share in the comments below!
Do you want to be a Beauty Loser?
The lovely Krystal from Polish Galore has decided to start her own journey with The Beauty Loser. I’d like to invite anyone else who has a blog, and would like to join us in The Beauty Loser, to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Even if you don’t own a blog but you’d like to join, let me know. I’m working on some ideas for how this can be interactive, perhaps linking to each other’s post each week, weekly challenges, etc. I can promise if nothing else, it will be great to have the support of a team of Beauty Losers!!
