New Shades of Milani Jewel FX Specialty Nail Lacquer

I really can’t get enough glitter sometimes. I finally tried the foil method of removal and it totally takes the pain out of removing glitter. WHY I hadn’t tried that sooner is beyond me!

It’s easy to go on a glitter streak with your manicures when companies are feeding into our glittery appetites, just like Milani Cosmetics with new additions to their Jewel FX Specialty Nail Lacquer line!

Check out the pretties!

Fuchsia is a regular and small fuchsia glitter in a clear base. Above is one coat on bare nails. Here it is over Jessica Witchy Wisteria:

Pretty in purple!

Hot Pink:

Hot Pink is pink, holographic and silver glitters in a clear base. It’s one of my top picks from the new additions! Here it is over Jessica Geranium Gypsy:

This is just one fun polka-dotted mani!

Red is red glitter in a clear base. It’s simple, but gorgeous. Here it is over my Valentine’s Day mani (Nubar Strawberry and some stamping with Konad Special Polish in Red):

There’s a lot going on in that swatch above but I got lots of compliments on it, and Red gave it just enough flash to make my glitter-lovin’ heart happy!

Lavendar is regular and small lavendar glitter in a clear base. Here it is over a purple (I can’t remember which one!):

Another pretty accent glitter!

Teal is regular silver, holographic, green and blue glitters, and small blue glitter in a clear base. Teal is my favorite from these new colors! Here it is over a green – again, I have no idea which one!:

Teal has a theme of colors going on inside and it’s absolutely gorgeous to me!

Color Thoughts

While all of them are fun (what glitter isn’t?!), I think Fuchsia, Red and Lavendar are sort of basic glitter top coats. Hot Pink and Teal are more interesting because of the different color glitter. You can create all kinds of combinations with these glitters over other base colors, but I don’t think I’d try to get them opaque.

Dupe Talk

I feel like these are dupable, except maybe Hot Pink. I checked the Jordana Specialty Glitters and Teal is close to Cosmic, except it has silver glitter and Cosmic has gold glitter. I think the green glitter in each one is slightly different too.

Application Issues

I had no real application issues with these glitters, except inconsistent glitter dispersement. Some have better glitter coverage than others. As much as I love Hot Pink, I did get some concentrations of glitter on parts of the nail. Nothing that you can’t touch up quickly and easily.

Additional Information

The Jewel FX polishes are $4.99 on the Milani website and available where Milani is sold. Overall I think they made a nice complement to the existing shades in the line, and I look forward to seeing more in the future!

What do you think of these new FX polishes?
