Can you believe we’re already into buying – and for me, reviewing – fall nail colors? Where did summer go?
While I still want to grab my neons and baby blues, I am definitely excited by the idea of wearing fall’s muted – if not sometimes moody – cremes and shimmers. Nicole by OPI will be offering four new shades in its Something About Color collection, exclusively retailed at Target, that includes three shimmers and a muted creme.
Green Up Your Act:
Green Up Your Act is a dusty olive-green creme. I love how this color pops on my fair skin. I went into my stash looking for dupes, because I feel like I’ve seen this color a lot. I didn’t do too much digging, but I found that OPI Don’t Mess with OPI is a grassier green, while Essie Da Bush is much lighter.
Sounds Grape to Me:
Sounds Grape To Me is a shimmering burgundy that I went a little polish-razzi over! It’s like the chocolate and red that make up the burgundy are their own entitites that come together to create the full, one-color shimmer on the nail. It’s not really a duo – I don’t know how else to describe it. I just really like this color!
It’s Not Me, It’s Blue:
It’s Not Me It’s Blue is a shimmery periwinkle. This is swatched with two coats. When I wear it, I will use three coats. I had some balding spots with two. When I look at the bottle of this polish, I see the tiniest little specks of purple and silver shimmer.
I Love You Cherry Much:
I Love You Cherry Much is a bright, maraschino red. It’s got a hint of pink to it! I want to call it glass-flecked, because the shimmer is, well, glassier than the other two shimmers in this collection.
Overall, I liked these four polishes. I still say there’s a similar polish to Green Up Your Act, what with all the muted dusty green cremes coming out as of late. But it’s a gorgeous polish with great application.
I noticed the brushes on these polishes were different from the wider brushes that Nicole by OPI was boasting with its Bieber collection. Not sure why the switch, or if it’s not really a switch and just these polishes.
The only polish that gave me a bit of issue was It’s Me Not Blue, because it was kind of spotty and balding in places. Like I said, I will definitely do three coats of that puppy before wearing it out the door.
These four new hues will be added to the current Something About Color line, which already includes eight shades. The will be available this month for $7.04 each at select Target locations nationwide and Target.com.
