Awakening: China Glaze Halloween 2010

I’ve shown you two fall collections this week – OPI and China Glaze – and I thought it would be neat to end the week with the first of this year’s Halloween collections – China Glaze’s Awakening Collection.

But, um. Is anyone actually thinking about Halloween? I love it, but we’ve had heat wave after heat wave and I can’t see past the humidity slapping me in my face everyday. Perhaps thinking of Halloween, and seeing these “cool” colors, will get your mind off the summer swelter (well, for those of us on the East Coast, anyway – I’m sure our heat is nothing new to some of you from other areas of the country and world! Or maybe it is?)

Anyway! China Glaze and Color Club are my two go-to brands for Halloween! And China Glaze does not disappoint this year!! In fact, they have crafted three glitters that are perfect!

Mummy May I:

Mummy May I is described as a “vampy, wine-colored purple with flecks of hot pink glitter.” This is a gorgeous color – even though the hot pink glitter is, well, hot pink, it looks like stars suspended in the night sky. I love this color! I also see it going well with some kind of gothic princess costume. Hmm. Now there’s an idea…

Ick-A-Bod-Y is described as a “a dark green base chock-full of orange glitter.” It looks like a black jelly, right? Well, here’s a pic of it after just one coat:

You can sorta see it’s more of an olive green jelly. This is probably going to be my go-to color for the actual day of Halloween!

Man, I’m feeling cooler already!

Zombie Zest:

Zombie Zest is described as a “mossy green shade with gold flecks of micro glitter.” There’s more to it, though! I’m pretty sure there’s green glitter floating around in there. Zombie Zest is the color that caused a buzz among nail fanatics when China Glaze tweeted pictures of the Halloween collection on Twitter! It deserves the buzz. This is a great Halloween color, and I’m already contemplating what kind of nail art I want to do with it!

So what do you think? Do any of these appeal to you?

And, are you excited that we’re already reviewing Halloween Collections?!

The glitter finish was a little bumpy on Ick-A-Bod-Y and Mummy May I but nothing some top coat can’t help. Although Ick-A-Bod-Y might still be bumpy after top coat. Formula was fine on all these.

Awakening will be available in September at Sally’s Beauty Supply Stores. There’s a four-piece set that inclues a Fast Forward Top Coat, but that will be available at nail and beauty supply outlets, etailers and stores outside of Sally’s. There’s no SRP but it depends on where you buy it, really.

Come back and visit tomorrow! I’ll have a “Compare and Save” post including a possible dupe for Zombie Zest!!
