KBShimmer March Indie Pickup: Raspberry Beret Sugar Scrub

Disclaimer: PR sample, see below

If you don’t see the name of this sugar scrub and sing at the top of your lungs, “SHE WORE A RASPPPPPBERRY BERET, THE KIND YOU FIND, IN A SECOND HAND STORE,” who are you, even?

Probably not a Prince fan. (Hint, I am!)

Anyway! This month the Polish Pickup is coming back next Friday with its latest theme: Album Covers! KBShimmer Raspberry Beret Sugar Scrub is its contribution to the Indie Pickup, which will run simultaneously with Polish Pickup! For $10, you get 9 + oz. of scrub. There’s no cap on sale, so it will be available all weekend (starting Friday ending end of day Monday, see further down for more specifics on the PPU!)

First, I love the packaging, the distressed look to the label:

Here’s the ingredients:

With the Polish Pickup and Indie Pickup theme this month, Album Covers, Christy Rose and the team at KBShimmer chose Purple Rain as the inspiration for both this scrub and the brand’s tri-thermal polish offering for March, The Kid (more on that coming this week!)

“Prince’s Purple Rain album cover helped to inspire my debut Indie Pickup item, Raspberry Beret sugar scrub,” Christy told the PPU Pack on Facebook. “When deciding on a scent to match the moody cover, I knew it had to be raspberry, a nod to another one of Prince’s songs, Raspberry Beret. Like freshly picked berries, this scrub’s scent is sweet, with tart and juicy notes, and is swirled in shades of purple and pink to match Prince’s outfit on the Purple Rain album cover.”

Indeed, the scrub has a pleasant berry scent, and feels wonderful sloughing away dry, winter skin.

This scrub is best used on wet skin . KBShimmer said the luxe oils and butters in this scrub combine with water to form a lotion that helps to moisturize and soften even the most stubborn of rough, dry patches. As this scrub is designed to melt with body heat, your scrub may arrive solid or more liquid, depending on the outside temperature.

Mine arrived pretty solid, as you can see above, and temps were I believe in the 70s the day it arrived to my Central Florida home. You can see a smattering of silver glitter on top.

It looks good enough to eat, but don’t!

To use the scrub, you just scoop out how much you need and rub in a circular motion to exfoliate your skin, rinsing after with warm water.  I am always very cautious in the tub when I use scrubs and in-shower moisturizers, because they can make your shower/tub floor slippery.

KBShimmer recommends using the scrub within 24 months, and advises not to get water into the tub. Storing it in the shower may reduce its shelf life.

Despite living in Central Florida where temps never really get “cold,” my skin craved the smoothing that this scrub provided. I love using a sugar scrub after I shave my legs, as well, to moisturize and exfoliate so they look almost shiny. I’ve been using KBShimmer’s scrubs for years, and they are wonderful.

When open, shop the PPU website here. Remember – you can only purchase this over the first weekend of March! (March 1-4). If you don’t know – PPU and IPU are a monthly sale of indie nail polish and beauty items that makers create with a community-generated theme. So the polishes and beauty items for sale are limited edition and special!

Don’t forget to keep up with the selling platform and KBShimmer – the Polish Pickup Facebook page is here, Indie Pickup Page is here and KBShimmer here!

Again, Raspberry Beret will retail for $10.00 each with no cap. What do you think of this scrub?! Is it on your PPU/IPU wishlist this weekend?!
