This fall I’ve been rocking a variety of orange lips from soft peach tones to bright, bold traffic-stopping orange, thanks to some new-to-me lip brands.
Orange lips and cheeks were a trend lasting from spring into fall, so I’m not sure I see it as popular as we head into the holidays. But I think orange can look good, just like red, if you find the right one for your skin tone and your comfort level; it can be wearable all year long! I wanted to share with you three orange lippies that I recently acquired that look good on (at least my own) fair, ruddy skin, with “light” reviews and swatches!
Check ’em out!
Sistar Lipstick in Fabulous Salmon
Sistar is a new-to-me brand I discovered at The Makeup Show Orlando. This lipstick was included among items for press to consider, and it was one of the first makeup goodies I tried from my overall show haul, because it has such a soft hue and I loved how it looked in the tube. It swatched just as beautifully:
My skin in the following photo is extremely dry, and I recognize that my lips, and my face, did not take to makeup well at all. I’ve since overhauled my skincare – including my water intake! – and have improved the texture and appearance of my facial skin. I felt like I had to throw that out there, because it is so stark to me and I wanted to demonstrate that everyone has room to grow and improve in how they care for their skin and apply makeup!
Regardless of how dry it was, this lipstick is very flattering for my pale skin. The lipstick applies in a very creamy way, and lasts for a few hours, staining just a touch.
Also, the name is funny – Fabulous Salmon. Ha! I mean, salmon is fabulous. I’m allergic though, so I’m happy to have Fabulous Salmon I can put on my lips and it won’t break my mouth out in hives!
Fabulous Salmon, along with Sistar’s other lipsticks, can be found here, and retail for $5.99. What a great deal!
Blot Beauty Cosmetics Luxe Lips in Bougiee
Ok, so now we’re getting into liquid lipstick territory with Blot Beauty Cosmetics Bougiee.
I wore Bougiee on Halloween – It’s a great pumpkin hue. This formula did dry a little patchy on my lips – although my lips were dry, in fairness to the formula. It lasted well, though, typical matte liquid lipstick timeframe. While it looks lighter in my photo with it on my lips, it’s more like the below swatch:
I do not see this shade listed on the Blot Beauty Cosmetics site at this time, but wanted to make sure to still include it in case it becomes available again. The Luxe Lips product retails for $15.
Cozzette Lip Synergy in Jessy
This is probably my favorite of these three lippies I tried, so I saved it for last! Jessy is a vibrant, solid-performing matte liquid lipstick formula that looked so vibrant on my lips!
I let this lead for me – just some mascara, face and those lips. One of my favorite looks I did all fall. No shadow needed.
Like I said, formula was rock solid and it was comfortable.
Do you like orange lipsticks? Have you ever found one appropriate for your skin tone?
