This year, fall is so different for me! Instead of pumpkin patches, hot apple cider donuts and cool mornings, my eyeglasses still fog up everytime I step out of my car from the air conditioning into the heat and humidity of Central Florida – temps have held steady in the mid to high 90s!
Regardless of the weather, though, there’s something instinctual inside of me that screams fall nails and Halloween manis!
KBShimmer’s Falloween Collection is a brilliant combination of both the season and the holiday and I am HERE FOR IT. Glitter, flakies…it’s an eclectic collection that is aesthetically pleasing to look at all together and a thrill to wear individually. Shall we move onto swatches?!
Hide And Eek
Hide And Eek is a white crelly base with purple, orange, black, green and yellow glitters – like a dash of Halloween – in a pretty, bright holiday polish. Shown here in three coats, I decided to do a third coat becauses I loved that it just popped a bit extra on my shorter nails!
The Snuggle Is Real
The Snuggle Is Real is a neutral tan cream that reminds KBShimmer owner Christy Rose of her favorite blanket. I show it here in two coats. Christy said this shade makes the best base for glitter toppers! I know this will make a pretty base for this next polish although I haven’t tried it yet…
Take It Or Leaf It
Take It Or Leaf It is seriously fall in a bottle to me. It’s metallic flakes that shift from reds, into burnt orange and gold, to hits of green at extreme angles. I layered her over Smashed (first two photos) and Full Moon in the third and fourth photos. I didn’t wear her on her own yet but I might replicate Christy’s mani for Polish Con – she did an accent finger of this finish! I used one or two coats, depending on flakie coverage with the first coat.
Smashed is a spiced pumpkin linear holo. I agree witht the description that it leans towards tarnished copper
– it gives me PSL vibes. I used it in two coats here for my mani. This was the first one I wore from the collection! I loved it with Take It Or Leaf It. For kicks, another photo of that combo…
Here For The Boos
Here For The Boos, a mega flame polish in Halloween orange, loaded with silver holo glitters. This
shade has so much sparkle that you will shine brighter than any candle-lit jack-o-lantern. Shown here in two coats, this is fabulous and I can’t wait to make pumpkin face nail art with it closer to the holiday!
Fool Moon is a multichrome polish that has a complex shift that starts with a moonlight yellow and warmer goldenrod, shifting into shades of sage, olive, and at extreme angles, a dusty blue. This is one of my favorites from the collection. I couldn’t stop staring at my nails when I wore it!!! Shown here in two coats.
Absinthe Minded starts with a lime green hue, and quickly flows into grass green and blue. At extreme angles this polish can look navy. This polish is to another gorgeous shifter. I was worried the shift wouldn’t be very obvious because the colors seemed close but that’s not the case at all. Some one exclaimed I had mermaid nails when I wore this and I thought this would be a great pick for a mermaid costume! Shown here in two coats.
“Spell Check nail polish is what I think magic would look like if we could see it,” said Christy in her descriptions. Spell Check’s deep blue jelly base is loaded with flakes that flitter between greens, blues, indigos, and aqua. Blue is my favorite color and I am dying over this. Build up layers for a squishy look, or layer over a dark blue or black to really let the flakes shine. I used three coats for this because I was obsessed with it!
Best Witches is a gorgeous purple – I want to call it a “Prince” purple, lol! It’s filled with silver holographic glitters. It’s gorgeous in two coats!
Creep It Together
Creep It Together is another of my favorites, a magnetic polish that comes alive when the magnet is used to form areas of pink, gold and green, allowing the deepened black base to set off a flurry of color shifting flakes from lime, to pink, to hints of blue and gold. It’s a work of art. It’s another polish I couldn’t stop staring at on my nails!!!
Overall, I love this. I have very eclectic tastes when it comes to makeup, fashion and music, so the variety of finishes and fall/Halloween theme really feels creative to me. The names sare typical pun-y fun from the brand!
As far as application, I didn’t have any issues. I varied between two and three coats and most were fine with two.
The Falloween collection launched at Polish Con on September 15, and launches online at www.KBShimmer.com October 1. All shades will retail for $10.00.
What do you think of this collection?! What did you pick up at Polish Con, if you went, or what do you want when it launches online?!
