Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Helped Save My Pout!

Nothing to disclose

I came home from the hospital after having my daughter and my lips were dry. My body was in such a state of hurt and healing at the same time after having a c-section, breastfeeding, and suffering sleep deprivation.

I couldn’t make my incision heal any faster, or my daughter sleep through the night any earlier than she wanted to, but at least I could take my lip health into my own hands!

I heard wonderful things about the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, and I was eager to try it.

Every night, I used this on my dry and flaking lips, and it kept them moisturized all night long, through the multiple overnight feedings, and the dead sleep I fell into in between them!

The Sleeping Mask is in a small hard plastic jar with .7 oz of product. It’s a nice, sturdy package that elevates the usual lip balm/lip gloss package to look like skincare for your lips.

Here’s the small spatula that comes with it, in a small plastic envelope:

If you clean off the spatula after each use, it’s a much more sanitary way to get the product out of the jar than using your finger!

The sleeping mask applies like a balm but is a bit glossy and has a slippery texture, which I like and which surprised me, because it doesn’t feel “heavy” on my lips. I use it as the instructions say, applying it generously before I go to bed, and wiping off any excess on my lips in the morning. There’s always a little bit left, but not a lot.

The smell is HEAVENLY. It’s all berries. I fades pretty quickly but I love the light yet sweet smell. The smell of berries makes sense, because according to the Laneige website, “enriched with vitamin C and antioxidants, its Berry Mix Complex™ offers a nutritiously sweet and fragrant blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, and blueberry extracts.”

So what makes this different from any other lip balm or lip moisturizer out there? Laneige says that it has an exclusive technology that provides a protective film over the lips with hyaluronic acid, and “features a mineral network of moisture-rich beta-glucan” which all combined helps this mask provide 8-hour time-release moisturizer.

Here’s the ingredient list, pulled from the Laneige website:

My lips had small flakes of skin that were tempting me to bite and pull when I got home from the hospital. I applied the Sleeping Mask every night, as directed, and every morning I would wake up with smoother, softer lips.

Check out my before and after:

Not only did this cut down on the flakes, but it seemed to have a plumping effect, perhaps from helping my lips retain their moisture.

As I continued to use the Lip Sleeping Mask, my lips got better, and I use the Lip Sleeping Mask when I need it now, or as a form of indulgence/self-care. I did get really good about drinking a good amount of water each day at one point, but lately I have not been very good about that.

I got mine at Sephora for $20. I will definitely repurchase this when it runs out, and I do recommend it. I couldn’t believe the results I had, and I really, really love the berry scent!
