Lately I feel as if I’ve been hitting my goal of posting three times a week with very few moments left! I’ve been enjoying my time with Josie – she’s 2-months-old now! – and I make sure I do things and see people. I’m also making a point for a bit of self care everyday, usually by showering! If I go out, I try to at least get some basic face makeup on. It all depends on how content Josie is in her bouncer. If she cries when I’m in the shower, I don’t have the heart to do my makeup, I want to snuggle her.
Also, it’s hard to blog with the baby attached to me and admittedly – I have to start putting her down in her crib when she falls asleep during the day. I usually hold her – you can’t spoil an infant that young! And this time I have to devote soley to her and my family will come to an end in July when I return to work. But I get very little done and my waistline is not shrinking…
My “me time” has become the time after Josie goes down for the night in her portable crib in our bedroom. Around 10 p.m., I can be seen doing laundry, dishes, painting my nails, blogging or reorganizing/destashing anything – last night it was the clothes hung in my closet.
Why am I boring you with all this personal drivel?! Well to be honest, it’s a nice segue into the product I’ve got to share with you, the Macy & Mia Cosmetics The Spotlight Highlighter Palette.
The connection between my momma life and this palette? It puts the LIFE in momma life! I have nights where I don’t get as much sleep as I would like, and I look tired and beat. This highlighter palette makes me glow, and I find myself reaching for it a lot, especially for quick makeup looks where I’m using only a few products to make me look more alive than I may feel, lol! I always get compliments not only that my complexion looks great but that I don’t look like I’m the mother of a newborn/infant. Highlighter makes the difference, I swear!!!
Macy & Mia Cosmetics is a brand that’s new to me. Founded by hairstylist and makeup artist DJ Victory, the line is cruelty-free and according to the website, DJ will donate 10 percent of all retail sales to Pay it Forward for Pets,a 100 percent non-profit organization focused on animal rescue and other efforts, like “Vets for Pets.”
The Spotlight has four cool and warm highlighter shades that offer a glow – no glitter, just dewy glow. Each shade is named after an iconic female music star.
The packaging is gorgeous! A black, sturdy cardboard palette covered in holo.
For each of the women the shades are named after in the palette, there’s a quote.

I generally use at least three of these highlighter shades in my looks. Each one is perfectly pigmented, easy to apply. Here’s a look I did with the palette recently:
Not the best lighting, as it was a shot I took randomly on my couch! But you can see the glow on my nose and cheeks and forehead.
The only con, I would say, is that with so many highlighters available, these shades can be dupable with products from, say, BH Cosmetics. However, I like the inclusion of cool and warm tones here, which makes this palette a slam dunk for travel for me.
The Spotlight is here on the brand site for $39.99.
Have you heard of Macy & Mia?! What do you think of this palette? I’d love to hear your thoughts below!
