One of my favorite drugstore brands has overhauled its lipstick collection!
The new Jesse’s Girl lipsticks are a nice upgrade from the original line! The packaging is more sturdy, and the colors are staples; a variety of neutrals with pops of color!
The 12 new colors and formulas represent an evolution – the line previously had brighter, more bold everyday colors – in my opinion. (While I do love the new shades, I will miss Penny-a-Thought and Fabala, I’ll be holding onto them tight!)
Let’s hop right in – Check out my lip swatches!
Victoria is described as a soft blush with a sheer shine finish.
Krystal is described as a warm neutral pink in a cream finish. This lippie is named after my friend Krystal from the nail blog Polish Galore!
Georgia is described as a deep neutral rose in a shiny cream finish.
Yesenia is described as a soft dusty rose in a sheer finish.
Penelope is described as a rich bubble gum pink in a cream finish.
Christina is described as a silky mauve in a sheer shiny finish.
Angeles is described as a muted plum in a semi-matte finish.
Ventura is described as an auburn raspberry in a semi-matte finish.
Veronica is described as a ruby red in a shiny sheer finish.
Niki is described as a muted raspberry in a shiny, creamy finish. She is named after one of my blogger friends, Niki from Hello Miss Niki!
Carmen is described as a rich terra-cotta in a shiny cream finish.
Elizabeth is described as a bold sangria in a semi-matte finish.
The relaunched lipsticks retail for $4.99 and can be found at Rite Aid and the Jesse’s Girl website.
Overall I like the new shades, the naming convention and the mix of finishes. I haven’t had a chance to wear all of them, which is why I didn’t bother going into greater detail after each swatch, but the ones I’ve worn have not feathered and I get a solid five or more hours of wear.
Penelope is a fantastic, highly-pigmented hot pink. This is a luscious lipstick!
Niki is also a stunner, a nice plum color that wore well for at least four or five hours.
The cream finishes are a nice fell on my lips, I wear so many matte lippies I forget how nice a good cream lipstick is!
So, do any of these lipsticks appeal to you? Have you picked them up?! I saw a fancy new display for Jesse’s Girl at Rite Aid last time I was there, I wish I’d snapped a pic for you!
