When I look at my February empties laid out, it’s not a very exciting month! I didn’t use a variety or a ton of products.
Alongside the few empties I have this month, I’ve got two products that I had to stop using, because I discovered they were irritating my rosacea. I raved about one in a review last summer, and one even made my current favs in January, so I’m very bummed.
Here’s the overview!
Jesse’s Girl Eye Shadow Primer
I’ve been using this primer for years, and find it to be a great drugstore alternative to my Holy Grail, Urban Decay Primer Potion. It’s got a doe-foot applicator, so I wipe the product on my lid, and massage it across my whole lid area. This little tube goes a long way, I’ve been using it religiously for months. I’ve gotten samples of it from the brand, but I’ve also purchased it and this particular tube I had purchased.
Would I repurchase? Yes, it’s my drugstore Holy Grail eye primer!
Tom’s of Maine Creamy Coconut Natural Beauty Bar
I received a small travel size bar of this soap with a Target Beauty Box, and loved the opportunity to try it. I’ve heard good things about Tom’s of Maine but have never tried any of their products until now. This soap has no artificial fragrance, so it was a nice soft coconut smell from the virgin coconut oil it contained. I also got a lot of wear out of that travel bar, used it for almost the entire month of February!
Would I repurchase? Yes, I would! I would like to look at other types of the brand’s soaps, too.
Neutrogena Makeup-Remover Cleansing Towelettes (travel size)
I’m no stranger to finishing these travel size packets of wipes, which I use to clean up my makeup when I do it in my car before work, or to get stubborn matte liquid lipstick off my finger tips.
Would I repurchase? Yes – I already did, during the 5X points on Neutrogena promo at Ulta last week!
Up & Up Premium Cotton Rounds and Ovals
I received the smaller packet of Premium Cotton Rounds that are dual-sided in a Target Beauty Box, and loved them. Two don’t go a very long way, but I immediately purchased more. Because the Regular Cotton Rounds left cotton fuzzies all over my face and I tossed them as soon as I brought the others home. The Premium Cotton Ovals I pair with my micellar water and clean my face at night.
Would I repurchase? Yes to the dual-sided cotton rounds and the ovals. No way on the regular cotton rounds that leave cotton all over my face!
Woman by Ralph Lauren perfume sample
In my continued journey to use up the many perfume samples I’ve gotten from years of online orders…I enjoyed this one very much. It’s got a light, fresh scent that I favor. From the Ulta website:
- Top notes – Pear, rhubarb, blackcurrant
- Middle notes – Tuberose, orange flower, Turkish rose
- Base notes – Sandalwood, hazelnut, vibrant woods
Would I repurchase? Yes, I would purchase this perfume, but there are others I’d purchase before it if I were to designate budget on perfume. I still have so many samples to use!
Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume sample
I loved this one, too, especially how it settled with my body chemistry. I’d catch a whiff of it randomly during the day and I’d find myself thinking “wow, I smell good!” Ha! from the Ulta website:
- Top notes: violet leaves, wild strawberries
- Heart notes: violet petals, jasmine bouquet
- Base notes: musk, vanilla infusion
I’m a huge fan of musk perfumes, so no surprises here!
Would I repurchase? Yes. But same as above – so many samples left!
Products I had to discontinue using
Revlon Youth FX Fill + Blur Foundation in Porcelain
I reviewed this foundation here, and found it to work well. That was last summer, also at the beginning of my pregnancy. For some reason, in winter, at the end of my pregnancy, my skin is freaking out with red bumps and itching and irritation over this foundation. It also didn’t look as nice on my drier winter skin as it did on my more oily summer face, which is odd, since it’s such a thick, creamy foundation.
I’d save this if I needed it, but I’m going to part ways with this one. It was inexpensive, and I’m glad I tried it but it’s just
Pixi Skintreats Glow Tonic To-Go Exfoliating Toner Pads
I stopped using the Revlon foundation and my skin started to clear. I was so happy! Around that time, I started to really commit to my morning skincare routine – cleanse in the shower, use Pixi Glow Tonic To-Go Exfoliating Toner Pads, finish with LEH Company Save Your Face moisturizer. I did it everyday.
Instead of staying well, my face started to get worse, again. Itchy, red bumps or patches on my face, especially on my cheeks and a zillion bumps on my forehead. My skin was uncomfortable.
On instinct, I discontinued using the Glow Tonic pads. Over the course of several days, my skin started to clear again. It’s not perfect, but the tiny bumps on my forehead dried out, and my cheeks calmed down. The itching dissipated.
I have a lot of Glow Tonic in my stash. I’ve used it in the past and don’t recall such a reaction. So I’m going to wait until after my pregnancy to crack open one of the two bottles I have in my bathroom closet, and try it again on a less frequent basis, because I do love how my skin feels with it. But as I don’t anticipate returning to this soon, I’m tossing this almost-used-up container of pads. Fingers crossed my hormones are just making everything crazy right now!
What did you use up this month?!
