Fairy Tale Makeup Glow Using New Makeup Goodies!

Nothing to disclose

Sometimes I buy a few new makeup products at once, and I think, optimistically, “I’m going to review EVERYTHING! ALL THE THINGS!”

And then I don’t.

Maybe I  take all the product shots, but I never remember to take the pictures of swatches, or pictures of the makeup on my face.

So I’m trying something new. I bought some new makeup in the last couple months, and one day I used about four products in one look that I felt was a bit like a fairy tale look (or an icy look), and I thought…let me throw it all in one post!

So here’s what I did:

Here’s what I used on my eyes:

  • Jesse’s Girl Eye Primer
  • Mac Cosmetics Painterly Paint Pot
  • Maybelline The CityKits Urban Light Eye + Cheek Palette
  • Stila Cosmetics Magnificent Metals Glitter + Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Sea Siren
  • Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

I’d love to tell you what else I used, like my foundation…but I don’t remember! And I never wrote it down. Sigh. This is why I don’t review “all the things”!!!

But let me talk more about four of the products used here!

Maybelline The CityKits Urban Light Eye + Cheek Palette

Maybelline The CityKnits Urban Lights Eye and Cheek Palette

Maybelline The CityKnits Urban Lights Eye and Cheek Palette

Here’s what I used from the palette:

  • The gunmetal silver in my inner and outer corner
  • Pinky-purple shade to the left of the silver, blended in the middle of the crease
  • Pink shade above the pinky-purple shade on brow to highlight, and in the inner corner.
  • Used the peachy pink blush and champagne microglitter highlighter on my cheeks and face

This palette is super soft, and feminine. The shadows are sheer, but sparkly/shimmery. I love the color of the blush and highlighter, but do wish the pans were a bit wider. No biggie, though. I make it work.

Here’s swatches from the palette, the way it is organized – it’s sheer, especially against my pale skin:

I actually didn’t use the palette the way it is “intended;” if you look at the back of the palette, the first top two vertical shadows go with the bottom two horizontal shades, and the next two on top and bottom go together.

Rules are made to be broken, so whatevs, right?!

I probably wouldn’t use this palette on its own.

Stila Cosmetics Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow

Stila sea siren

The one I used for this look is Sea Siren, which is on the left in this swatch photo – isn’t it magical?!

I dabbed this in the center of my lid. There was definitely some glitter fall-out from this, but it was negligible. This made my eye look POP!

I found this was easy to use, and it layered nicely, building up  but not getting all crusty. I haven’t tried the other metal I bought, I can’t wait to create a look with it after trying Sea Siren!

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick in Philosopher

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink in Philosopher

Philosopher was my lippie for this makeup look. I’ve already mentioned how much I love Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Ink lippies.

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

I mentioned this mascara in a recent “current favs” post, too, so I won’t go into a ton of detail, but I’m really impressed with how it volumizes my lashes.

So have you tried any of these more recent beauty products?! I’d love to know which one you’re loving or which one you’re wanting!
