January empties 2018 on beautyjudy

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser

I received a travel size bottle of Purity Made Simple in a Macy’s Beauty Box within the last few months, and having always been a fan of the brand, I was excited to try it. I used this cleanser in the shower in the morning, and it worked well with my sensitive skin. It smells clean and simple, doesn’t necessarily foam up all that much, but does the job of erasing dirt and makeup very well. I still will need a little clean-up after my shower, around my eyes, if I’ve worn mascara the day before and didn’t remove it all the way. But otherwise, I love how my skin feels after using this cleanser.

Would I purchase? Yes! I may use my Ulta 20% off coupon to purchase it!

Secret Clinical Strength Clear Gel Completely Clean Antiperspirant/Deodorant

I’ve been using Secret Clinical Strength for years, and I love it. For me, years ago when it first came out, it was a routine-changing product for me. I haven’t worn it in a while because I’ve been hooked on Dove sprays, but I saw it on my bathroom closet shelf and decided to take a break from the sprays the last month! It also does a great job of helping me feel fresh and clean throughout the day.

Would I repurchase? Yes, when I run out of my stash of deodorant in my bathroom closet (I have about three or four more deodorants left!)

Cartier La Panthere Eau de Perfume (sample)

I’m back at my mission to utilize all the perfume samples I’ve acquired from Sephora, Macy’s and Ulta orders over the years! I am always drawn to scents that have a musk to them, and this one indeed does; Musk, Gardenia and Tiaré Flower are the stars of the show here. It’s nice and light and perky.

Would I buy it? Yes, I would!

BareEscentuals ID Liquid-Filled Cotton Swabs Eye Makeup Remover

I’ve has this little package of on-the-go clean-up Wanda for so long I don’t even know where they came from. I do know that when I found them in a cosmetic bag, as I cleaned out my Beauty room recently, there were two left. I figured even if the remover fluid had dried up, I could still make use of the cotton swab part, because I need on-the-go cleanup for when I apply my makeup most weekday mornings. So sure enough, two days after tossing them in my makeup bag, they were gone. The fluid was not dry but it was definitely not as functional as when I first got them; you snap the one cotton head and it releases the fluid to the other cotton swab end. When I snapped the one end, the fluid didn’t saturate the other end, it just ended up coming out of the middle of the wand onto my hands.

Would I repurchase? I would, if they were still available.

Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Hydrating Conditioner (sample)

I got a sample of this, most likely in a previous Target Beauty Box. I LOVE the smell of it, and it did feel very hydrating. My hair felt softer using it, which was nice to notice since usually foil sample packets aren’t enough to tell if something will be a hit or a miss. This came with a coordinating shampoo sample, but I didn’t use it, I used a dandruff shampoo instead – I’ve been having a little bit of a dry scalp this winter and wanted to try my husband’s Head & Shoulders.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I think I would, if I increase my current shampoo/conditioner budget to afford it!

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

I keep a travel size of facial cleansing wipes in my purse makeup bag so that when I do my makeup anywhere other than home, I can cleanup. I do my eye makeup first, so I clean up any fall out from the shadows and I can cleanup my eyeliner lines, too.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I go back and forth between this brand and Neutrogena wipes.

Kristin Ess Style Reviving Dry Shampoo

I picked up this dry shampoo after attending a Target preview several months ago, and getting a brief introduction to what was then a new hair line to the store. I love the clean, crisp smell of this dry shampoo, which did absorb oil, and revive my hair so I could go without washing it two, sometimes three days at a time. It deposits powder, which is white, but I rub that into my hair and it disappears instantly, also making oil disappear instantly.

Would I repurchase this? I’m on the fence about that. This was $14 for 4 oz, and I felt like once I started using it, it went fast. I would love if it came in a bigger can. Whether I can afford $14 for a hair product will also weigh into my future repurchase decision. For now, I am using an Amika Dry Shampoo I got at The Makeup Show NYC last year.

First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser (sample)

I got a 1 oz sample of this facial cleanser somewhere, somehow, but can’t remember the deets. I finally used it up! It was nice, it had the subtlest of scents and was safe for my sensitive skin. But otherwise, it didn’t woo me.

Would I repurchase this? Probably not.

Young Living Peppermint Vitality Essential Oil

As I’ve mentioned earlier in the month, Peppermint is my most-loved and used essential oil, and after hosting a DIY party, I officially kicked my 5 mL bottle of it. I’ve used it to make salt scrubs, seasonal support roller balls, to give me relief from coughing and headaches – I have even diffused it.

Would I repurchase this? YES! Next time I’m ordering the 15 mL bottle. I am already working on a back-up 5 mL bottle.

Young Living Lavender Vitality Essential Oil

Lavender is my second most-used oil! Again, since I hosted the DIY party, I kicked this 5 mL bottle. But I use Lavender multiple times a week, whether in a body butter I made to soothe my winter-dry skin, or in my seasonal support roller ball…but more often than not, it pairs great with a lot of things in my diffuser and I try to diffuse a calming/unwinding/stress relieving blend every night!

Would I repurchase this? YES! I have moved onto a 5 mL back-up of this that came with my starter kit, but I plan to purchase the 15 mL bottle of this, as well.

Jesse’s Girl Brown Liquid Eyeliner

So my story here is sad. I went to use this liner and it was almost dried out! I made it work for one last eye look, but decided to stop on my way to where ever I was headed to pick up a new one. I’m lucky to have two Rite Aids relatively close to me! I bought a new one, cracked it open and used it … and it was dried out, too. I put it aside to return later.

Would I repurchase this? YES, but not at this particular Rite Aid. Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner is my Holy Grail liquid liner!

    The Carol’s Daughter sounds good.

    • BeautyJudy

Yes, I really would like to splurge on the shampoo and conditioner, the smell was amazing!

  • marciaf

Too bad about the liner. My brown one is still good but my colored ones dried up quickly. You did a great job on using things up.

    • BeautyJudy

I definitely need to find a new one that works! The JG liner is a must-have in my stash! 🙂

  • Lola Seicento

Nice job on your January Empties! I am impressed that you would repurchase all but one!

    • BeautyJudy

Thanks, yes, that’s not always the case!!!

  • http://www.makeupobsessedmom.com Stacie Arker Hamilton

That’s pretty good that you’d repurchase almost all of these products. I’ve used almost all of these and feel the same about most. Way to use up your stash!

    • BeautyJudy

Yes, I don’t usually feel that way about everything I use. Holding myself accountable for empties posts each month really does motivate me to use different products I might not get through, because I have a desire to see things decluttering!

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

I have to get back to using my diffuser! The cotton swab idea sounded great – to bad they were dried out. I also have the JG brown liquid eyeliner. Mine is old so I hope it’s not dried out. Good job using up a lot this month

    • BeautyJudy

I really enjoy the ritual of picking a combination and running it for an hour or two each night. It’s very relaxing! I have to find a new brown liner, because I just really, really love their formula and the tip!
