I love a tube of lipstick; lipstick was my first makeup love when I started my lifelong journey into a love of makeup!
But I love tube lipstick even more when it has staying power.
Pixi by Petra Mattelustre Lipstick goes on creamy, but tends to stain my lips a little, so the color doesn’t immediately disappear when I eat my breakfast and drink my coffee! It’s something that surprised me!
Despite the plastic safety wrapping around the tubes that shows what color the lipstick is, the Mattelustre lipsticks are packaged in Pixi’s signature light spring green tubing.
The ingredients are as follows, from the Pixi website:
Isononyl Isononanoate, Octyldodecanol, Synthetic Wax, Glyceryl Hydrogenated Rosinate, Bis-Behenyl/Isostearyl/Phytosteryl/Dimer Dilinoleyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Silica, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Shorea Robusta Resin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Stearyl Dimethicone, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Benzophenone-3, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Water/Aqua, Butylene Glycol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tribehenin, Hexylene Glycol, Ceramide NG, PEG-10 Phytosterol, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12. [+/-Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Red 28 Lake (CI 45410), Red 33 Lake (CI 17200), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140)]. 3.6 g / 0.13 oz
About Mattelustre, Pixi states, “The ultimate in multi-tasking lip enhancement, this demi-matte lipstick conditions, plumps and protects lips while giving long lasting, intense colour. Added peptides, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins C & E help to create fuller, smoother looking lips.”
It’s rare that I agree with almost everything a brand says about its product performance, but I have to say, I felt that these lipsticks – while matte – provided moisture and comfort. Check out how I wore three of them!
Rose Naturelle, on my pale skin, is the prettiest, work appropriate and low-key lipstick look I could hope for. It’s a nude with a pink edge, which makes it very wearable for me.
Peach Blossom makes my lips look ready for a spring or summer. It’s a bit of a “juicy” looking color, a beautiful light coral-peach that again – fits my pale skin tone nicely.
Bitten Rose is a nice light mauve hue. I hate to keep saying how fresh and work appropriate these colors are, but they really are. I feel like overall, Pixi is a brand I know I can rely on for makeup that’s either natural or work appropriate – at least I speak for my own skin tone. (Also, apologies at how horrible my chin looks in this close-up; trust me, I’ve exfoliated since then, lol!)
There are 11 shades in the Mattelustre Lipstick line, and you can find them here on PixiBeauty.com‘s website, or at Target/Target’s website.
I would buy more, and I’m thinking of picking up Bitten Rose for my mom for Christmas – she loves colors like this and I think it’d make a great stocking stuffer!
Have you tried the Mattelustre line of Pixi lippies?! What do you think?
