October Empties!

Disclaimer: One prior PR sample, see bottom of post.

October empties on beautyjudy

It feels good to be back to blogging!

I ended up on a small, two-week hiatus that I hadn’t intended on – blogging is not my full time or an income-generating side hustle for me at the moment, so it took a serious backseat as life just happened. Truth is, I have found it hard to carve out my usual blogging time on the weekends lately because of fall family activities, and the fact that being pregnant, I am exhausted and ready for bed around the time I would usually head down to my beauty office and photograph, edit, prep and schedule posts. Being pregnant while managing a toddler is very different from being pregnant with no children around. I’m definitely more tired this pregnancy than with my first!

Then I got sick. Whatever my toddler had a week and a half ago, took me DOWN. You can’t take makeup selfies when you’re sick, amiright?! Ew!

You know and I know that life happens, and having blogged for nearly nine years, there are ups and downs and I’ve learned not to stress about it.Truthfully, I’m probably the only one that really notices the absence, lol!

Usually I post my monthly empties on the last Monday, Wednesday or Friday of the month so I’m a bit late – but I used up so much I had to share my October empties. Check ’em out!

L’Oreal EverPure Smooth Shampooo and Conditioner

This color-safe (no sulfates!) shampoo and conditioner leaves my hair feeling very soft, and I am in love with the rosemary peppermint scent. It’s a great way to wake up, since I usually get my shower first thing after waking. While my hair feels soft, on days I don’t scrunch my hair and go with the waves and curls, I still need a flat iron. I have yet to meet a shampoo and conditioner that “smoothes” my hair so much that I have no curl and don’t need a flat iron. I doubt that exists!!!

Would I repurchase? Yes. I actually thought I did, during an Ulta Platinum Perks points sale, but had mistakenly purchased a set that looks just like it with marula oil in it. I’ll be on the lookout when I’m ready to stock back up on my shampoo and conditioner!

Dove Shower Foam Deep Moisture Foaming Body Wash

I reviewed this body wash previously, and raved about it. Of the two scents I got to try, this one smells so clean and fresh. I like the shea butter/warm vanilla scent now that it’s cooler temperatures, so I am happy with how I am moving through these two body washes. The container felt like it lasted FOREVER. I didn’t use it everyday until a couple months ago, but was seriously impressed with how much product you get for the drugstore price and clean.

Would I purchase? Yes! I love the scent, too.

Parian Spirit Brush Cleaner Wipe

I had a sample of this brush cleaner wipe randomly, it’s probably something that came from The Makeup Show, and I finally used it. I’m not a big fan of the smell of Parian Spirit, it’s a bit too citrusy for me. But it did a nice job cleaning a couple of my brushes that I used with powder, so there wasn’t a lot of “dirt” to clean off. I was able to clean a few eye brushes with the clothe before I ran out of room and it dried up a bit.

Would I repurchase? No, probably not. I prefer sprays and liquids to clean my brushes.

Swisspers 100% Cotton Rounds

These are my jam. These are the kind of rounds that have a more linty side, and a firmer side. And I prefer the firmer side to remove my eye makeup.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I always somehow end up with more of these!

Acure Ultra-hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

I got these two trial size tubes in a Target Beauty Box and didn’t have any imminent overnight travel, so I popped them in my shower for regular use. I felt I had to use a lot of the shampoo to lather up, perhaps I’m just used to the shampoo I usually use which lathers easily. I just wasn’t overly impressed. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t make an impression on me.

Would I repurchase? No. I didn’t feel a difference using this compared with my current shampoo and conditioner

Dove Original Anti-Perspirant

I use one of these up every couple months, so if you’ve been following my empties posts you know I’m a huge fan. Confession time, though: Pregnancy has changed my body chemistry, and I have noticed that my deodorant is not helping me like it used to. I am self conscious at the end of the day if I have been sweating. One of those weird things about the changes your body goes through that is gross, but it is what it is. I’m just glad that this time, I’m going to spend my “large” pregnant months over winter when I’m not sweating as much!

Would I repurchase? Yes, although I still have a couple socked away from the last time I stocked up.

bioBelle Five Minute Facial Mask #Primer

This mask is said to “prep the skin for a flawless makeup application.” It’s got great ingredients – tea tree oil, rosehip extract and vitamin c. So I gave it a shot one weekend when I was doing my makeup later in the day and had time to pop on a mask to prime for five minutes. After I used the mask I rinsed my face, patted dry and applied my makeup. I can’t say whether it really acted as a “primer,” per say, because I usually prefer mattifying primers. But it DID make my face soft in just those five minutes of use. I’m glad I tried it out.

Would I repurchase? Probably not. I’d like to try other types of masks that might help calm skin redness, and help infuse moisture into the skin now that the cooler temps are setting in!

Aerin Waterlily Sun perfume sample

Probably a sample I received through a Sephora order, I finished this one because I became addicted to the scent. I am such a sucker for waterlily, and this is just so fresh and clean.

Would I repurchase? I would love to purchase a full size of this perfume, but it will have to be after the holidays.

Disclaimer: I previously received the Dove Foam Wash for honest consideration by the brand. Please visit my Disclosure tab for more information on how BeautyJudy.com keeps it real!

I have the hardest time reviewing sheet masks because it’s so hard to see the results..besides a really smooth face! lol, nice to hear this primer one was very nice, though! I hear great things about BioBelle!

  • polarbelle

aw, I’m sorry you got so sick….but on the plus side, I can see that you’re very clean. 🙂

    I love empties posts!!

Isn’t it interesting how pregnancy changes EVERYTHING? I actually switched to an aluminum free after watching one of your videos and it’s working great for me – but I have a feeling after the pregnancy my stinky gross sweat will return! haha

You emptied so many products! I love that set from Acure 🙂

That 5 minute facial mask sounds nice, even if it didn’t do much as a primer.

I really love reading empties posts. I thought I was going to use a bunch of sample stuff I had here but then I got real about my life and gave it all away. Now I live vicariously through y’all. <3

  • Ehmkay Nails

The foaming body wash sounds great! Ugh, I just got over a 10 day sickness. Luckily, I was ahead of the blogging game and had stuff scheduled.

Welcome back! Great review post! Like seeing ones thoughts after usin more than once!

  • marciaf

Glad you are feeling better. I have a bag of empties but never get around to photographing them. I don’t care for the smell of the Parian Spirits, it smells like chemicals to me.

welcome back to blogging! you did good with your empties, that’s a whole lot

  • Jen Sky Walker

I’m so behind in my “empties” but have a stash building on my desk!

I’m glad to read your thoughts about the Biobelle primer mask. I like their other masks, but I wasn’t sure the primer option would work the best for me. Even with the great ingredients, I think I need something to help mattify my combination/oily skin.

  • Kristi Vasquez

Oooh, I was looking into the Loreal Sulfate free shampoo/conditioner. Good to hear a review on it. 🙂 the brush wipe is intriguing too.
