Faceatelier Ultra Matte mist review on BeautyJudy

This isn’t a long review with lots of pictures, but I think it’s worth a quick overview!

At The Makeup Show NYC, I stopped by the FACEatelier booth. I can’t for the life of me remember who recommended it, but someone told me about their mattifying mist and since I’ve been struggling with an oil slick on my T-zone by the afternoon most days, I knew I had to give it a shot.

Here’s the description from the website:

“Innovative Ultra Matte is the first ever silicone-based spray mattifier that allows you to banish shine before, during and after makeup application without dulling the skin. Its revolutionary formula also contains optical blurring pigments that provide microscopic reflection, minimizing the look of fine lines and wrinkles for an overall softer, more youthful appearance. The silicone formula is heat, moisture and sebum resistant.”

Ingredients are: Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone cross polymer, silica, dimethicone, trimethysiloxysilicate, phenoxyethanol. FACEatelier describes these two key ingredients in the spray:

“Cyclopentasiloxane – A member of the silicone family, this ingredient has a unique fluidity that makes it easily spreadable.  It gives skin a silky feel and acts as a mild water repellant by forming a protective barrier. It also fills in fine lines and wrinkles, giving the face, smoother, younger look.

Isododecane – A hydrocarbon ingredient often used as an emollient in skin care products. Thanks to its low viscosity and density, it has a high spreadability and is essentially weightless when applied on the skin.”

For those who only buy cruelty-free, FACEatelier is Leaping Bunny and PETA approved.

The most unique characteristic of this spray is how it feels on the skin. The first time I sprayed it, I kept spraying and spraying because I literally could not feel it on my skin. It is so fine, and sprays dry, that you can barely feel it. It’s a unique sensation!

I hold this spray approximately 12 inches from my face and use it sometimes before my makeup application, after moisturizers. And then I add another layer after my foundation.

If you’re a makeup artist, this spray is perfect for use with HD – it won’t flashback like powder will.

If you do find yourself oily midday, you can spray some of this on and after a few minutes your skin will look matte.

The 4 oz bottle of this spray retails for $44 here on the FACEatelier site. I did not pay full price because of show discounts, but after using it on and off since the first weekend of May, I can tell you that I would buy this again.

Have you ever heard of this spray? Do you have issues with oil during the day and seek solutions?
