May Empties!

Disclaimer: Previous PR sample, see bottom.

May empties beautyjudy

Hi all! I had an interesting mix of finished products this month – a mix of face and body products. Among everything I finished, there was a body splash, a hand cream and … if you’ve been following each month of 2017 so far…shocker…another Dove beauty bar, haha!

Let’s jump right in!

Simple Cleansing Micellar Water

Simple micellar water

I picked up this water from Walmart a while ago. I’m incredibly lazy about my nighttime cleansing routine (which is why the Pixi Double Cleanse hasn’t made the list, when it should have weeks ago!). So Micellar Water is a great, fast cleansing solution because it doesn’t require me to break out the headband and towel, I just need a cotton round or square and boom.

Would I buy this again? Sure. Because micellar water is so popular, I wanted to experiment with another brand and replaced this bottle with a bottle from Garnier.

Mustaev Maxi-Volume Mascara

Mustaev maxi volume mascara swatches and review BeautyJudy The Makeup Show NYC 2016

I discovered his mascara at The Makeup Show NYC last year, it was included in the sample bag provided to press. I fell in love, and I used it much longer than I should have (given the shorter “expiration” dates on mascara).

What makes it so special? It defines, adds volume, length and it doesn’t give me raccoon or panda eyes at the end of the day!

Would I buy this? Yes! I restocked at both IMATS NYC and The Makeup Show NYC this year.

Swisspers 100% Cotton Rounds

Swisspers cotton rounds

I’ve been using these cotton rounds for years off and on and they do the job – they help me remove my eye and face makeup. They add toner to my face. And I repeatedly buy them, but am always disappointed in the cotton bits that get caught in my lashes and that I find all over my face. I prefer a tougher cotton pad.

Would I buy this again? I prefer other brands that don’t leave cotton all over my lashes or face but I will buy it if I’m in a pinch.

Bath & Body Works Body Splash in Seaspray

Bath & Body Works SeaSpray Body Splash

I’ve had this body splash for YEARS. It was brought back during their semi-annual sale, and I snatched it up. Because I have these empties posts every month, with some products, I’m truly motivated to use things up. Seaspray is one of them!

Seaspray has a nice, crisp, clean scent. I favor body splashes like this one, which has aloe vera in it, for summer months and warmer weather than heavier perfumes.

Would I buy another? I have other BBW body splashes, and I use them, but since this is a discontinued scent I won’t be able to repurchase it even if I wanted to.

Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar

Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar

I feel like a broken record on this one. Yes, I love it. Yes I’ll buy it again. We go through one a month.

Would I buy another? Yes.

Tony Moly Magic Food Banana Hand Milk

I purchased this between Christmas and New Year’s last year, and finished it up within six months. This banana hand cream smells like banana Laffy Taffy, and moisturizes in a nice, non-greasy way. I wrote a guest review about it over on Be Happy Buy Polish here if you’re interested in learning more!

Would I buy another? Yes, I would. Except I have a lot of other lotions that I want to cycle through, too!

Sunday Riley C.E.O. C + E anti-Oxidant Protect + Repair Moisturizer

C.E.O. Sunday Riley

I received a sample of this somewhere along the way, and finally opened it to give it a shot. Maybe I used too much, but this was a one use for me, so it’s very, very hard to give comprehensive thought to a skincare product that you’ve only used once. What I can tell you is that this smelled citrusy, with Vitamin C and Lime Pearl extract. It’s supposed to fight “the visible signs of UV and micropollution-induced skin aging and sensitivity,” according to the package.

It didn’t irritate my skin (I deal with rosacea) which is always a plus but again – one use is hardly enough to make me expert!

Would I buy another? I have been wanting to try a vitamin C moisturizer, and this one I would consider. I have another sample of it, I’m going to try and stretch that to two uses.

So what did you empty in the month of May?!

Disclaimer: I received the Musteav mascara previously for honest consideration as part of a press sample bag at a trade show. Please visit my Disclosure tab for more information on how keeps it real!

  • Lisa Marie Heath

I finished a Dove Bar (I usually do body wash but busted out the bar this month!) and Simple Micellar Water this month too!

    • BeautyJudy

      Twinning! Lol

  • Beyond Beauty Lounge

There has been a lot of buzz around the Sunday Riley C.E.O , I was lucky to snag a deluxe sample from Sephora to try it.

    • BeautyJudy

That’s awesome! I definitely wish I had a deluxe sample!

  • Anastasia

I think they have a special place in hell for cotton rounds that leave fluff all over your face, just saying, haha 🙂 I am super picky about mine. They’re DHC brand and I get them in bulk on Amazon. Very sturdy, and never shed.

    • BeautyJudy

I will check those out! I completely agree with you, banish them, lol!

  • Kimmi @ The Plastic Diaries

The Tony Moly hand cream is so cute. They have some of the most unique packaging around.

    • BeautyJudy

Agreed! And he scent is AH-mazing!!!

I loved the Tony Moly banana hand milk, and was sad to throw away such a cute tube. Sunday Riley CEO is on my wishlist – it would be interesting to layer it above a Vitamin C serum.

    • BeautyJudy

I really want to get into retinol and vitamin c.

  • polarbelle

I’m surprised the Tony Moly lasted six months. I’ve wanted to get it to see what it smelled like but I thought it was so small, ya know? Not as small as I thought evidently!!

    • BeautyJudy

It lasted because I wasn’t using it constantly everyday! I definitely had a period of time in that span, maybe a few weeks, where I didn’t use it at all and was focused on cuticle balm that was helping my dry skin. It has a good amount of product in it but with constant use it will not last six months.

  • PrimeBeauty

    great post!

    • BeautyJudy

      Thank you

  • marciaf

I’m on the verge of finishing up a Simple Micellar Water. I’ve got a new Garnier in the wings and of course Bioderma since I love that.

    • BeautyJudy

Bioderma is tops! But yes, I’m on Garnier now and so far I’m loving it!

  • Norah Salazar

I love anything by Tony Moly – you did good with all these empties.

    • BeautyJudy

I have been impressed with everything I’ve tried so far from the brand!

  • Betzy Carmona

I also finish skincare the most. You should try Garnier water next, it’s a favorite of my.

    • BeautyJudy

Hahaha that’s in the post – that’s what I replaced this with. I like it better, I can see why it’s a favorite of yours Betzy!

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

I’ve been dying to try the Tony Moly Banana Hand Cream but like you, I often have several tubes waiting in the wings. I bought the Simple Micellar Water a year or so ago, and unfortunately, it irritates my eyes – but I’ve come to realize that it’s me and not the brand since so many things bother my eyes lately. Great job with the empties again this month!

    • BeautyJudy

That stinks about your eye irritation with the Simple water. What’s your favorite micellar water, if you have one? I often like what you recommend so I’d love to know!

      • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

I’m doing my empties post tomorrow, and my fave is Garnier MW. In fact, I like it even more than BioDerma Hydrabio 🙂

  • Phyrra Nyx

I go through skincare faster than anything else!

    • BeautyJudy

I find that I never finish skincare. I will just stop using it when I find something different and forget to go back. But doing empties is really helping me focus on finishing product compared with my old habits!
