Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer

I bought this.

I don’t typically wear face primers, but I’ve got two that are in everyday rotation. Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer is one of them.

As I’m aging, my skin is changing. I find now that my skin gets very oily, making me look so slick by the afternoon. It doesn’t matter what foundation that I love or even try – some might not break down as easily as others but with all of them, my shine comes through at some point during the day.

I originally went to pick up a different Urban Decay primer when I hit up my local Macy’s, but as I talked with the counter sales rep, I decided that this really was the primer I should bring home. My biggest issue is my t-zone – chin, nose, cheeks and forehead. My makeup will breakdown on my chin and nose quickest but all of it looks like an oil slick after lunchtime. Sometimes before.

De-Slick looks peachy-nude but has no color as it blends into the skin:

I find that I have to very quickly and very precisely apply De-Slick, because it dries quickly, and I only have the opportunity for a couple strokes rubbing it into my face before I need to start patting it to blend it out on my face. I concentrate it on my trouble areas.

The results I achieve are mixed; this clearly helps control my oil problem, but not on my nose. My cheeks and forehead will look matte hours and hours later, but my nose will still look like an oil slick. My makeup still wears/breakdown on my chin.

Despite the lack of help on my nose, I use this regularly because it DOES work! Overall, it brings my shine down from crazy-Christmas-lights-level to a small-back-porch-light at night level.

Overall, I like the way this helps me control shine. It’s got good ingredients, like aloe vera, and my foundation applies over it easily.

I purchased De-Slick at Macy’s for $34. It’s available most places Urban Decay is sold; I’ve seen it at the usual places like Ulta and Sephora. It’s also a vegan product!

Have you tried De-Slick, or any of the other Urban Decay Complexion Primers? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

I still havent found a primer that works for my skin better than Pores No More, but that doesnt mean I will stop trying other ones. Thanks for the review!

Being a blogger always has us testing and trying even when we find something we love lol!

I really don’t do primers on myself but my all time favorite for when I work on oily skin is MUFE Mattifying Primer Step 1.

I need to try that one, too!

  • Phyrra Nyx

I love their new primers. I have dry skin, so this one isn’t for me.

I’ve heard you rave about the Optical Illusion Primer!

I don’t need this with my dry skin but I love the UD Optical Illusion primer!

    • BeautyJudy

That’s the one I went in to buy, I still want to try it!

I could have used this years ago but it would probably be too drying for my skin. I think UD put a lot of thought into their new primers so that there’s something for everyone.

    • BeautyJudy

Agreed, I want to try the Optical Illusion one too.

Definitely not for me with my desert-dry skin, but I’m so glad there are relatively effective products like this – sorry it doesn’t work 100%

It’s the best I’ve tried! I find it odd that I’m getting oiler as I age vs drier!
