Make Me Glow: NYX Cosmetics Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder

Disclaimer: I bought this.

Running into Ulta for one thing turned out to be a bad idea for my poor wallet when I happened upon the new post-Christmas NYX Cosmetics displays a couple weeks ago.

I love highlighting, so I picked up a couple of the new Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powders – there were five in the display. I chose Snow Rose and Synthetica.

Check these beauties out:

Left is Snow Rose and right is Synthetica. They have a strong shift, and seem well-pigmented for a highlighter.

Here’s how I wore Snow Rose:

You can see it on my forehead, along the bridge of my nose, and on top of my cheeks.

Here’s how I wore Synthetica:

You can see the peachy-gold in the same places as Snow Rose – my nose, forehead and cheeks.

Overall, these highlighters lasted all day, applied and blended beautifully. They were a good buy as I use highlighters everyday in my makeup routine.

I didn’t include this third shade, Lavender Steel, in my review technically, but I did pick it up recently and thought I’d include the photo of me wearing it, because you can see the strong shift in it, too!

These highlighters are $8. You can purchase them through the NYX site, or pick them up in Ulta or on Ulta’s website if there aren’t any left on the shelves!

I was pleased! What do you think of these? Did you pick any up yet? Plan to? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Which color is your lip color in the Synthetica one~
    So beautiful!!

    • BeautyJudy

Hi Judy (great name!!) – I wore Jesse’s Girl Matte Finish Lip Color in Angelic with that look! It’s a great drugstore matte liquid lippie!

THIS. Synthetica. OMGGGG. Your swatch makes me want to run to the store right now and buy it!

    • BeautyJudy

Thanks Brooke! Seriously Synthetica is gorgeous, you would rock it. I like to make it appear subtle but I could easily layer it with my fair skin!

  • Phyrra Nyx

    I have 2 of these. They’re gorgeous

    • BeautyJudy

      They have become my go-tos!

Ooh, I love the lavender one! It’s the kind of highlighter color that makes me want to buy those overpriced palettes from ABH haha. Guess I should have waited for NYX ones before dishing out for Moonchild 🙂 Thank you for swatches!

    • BeautyJudy

Lol true story! I like the funky highlighters in Moonchild but they aren’t practical for everyday. I refuse to regret the purchase, but yes, NYX singles would have been more economical lol!

I can’t really see it in the pics.

    • BeautyJudy

Really? You can see Lavender Steel pretty well on the tops of my cheeks; and I’d like to think that this means it’s subtle 🙂

I can see some on your cheeks in the last two pictures–it’s so hard to capture subtle looks on camera!

        • BeautyJudy

Hmm. I definitely see the shine even subtle in all the pics but you are right, it is hard to capture subtlety in looks!!
