Let’s talk about spring beauty coming to Target soon

Nothing to disclose.

target spring beauty preview event BeautyJudy

On Thursday in New York City, it felt like a warm, spring day. It was a total treat after a cold winter snow storm just a few days before it. Anyway, Target couldn’t have timed their Spring Beauty Preview event any more perfect than on a day when the temperatures were above 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle of January!

I could be stopping at Target for milk on my way home from work, right before I pick up my toddler from daycare. But I can’t go in without a quick jaunt up and down the beauty aisles; from the drugstore makeup brands to the exclusive hair care collections, I want to explore what Target curates for its shelves.

The lineup for spring 2017 promises to make my quick looks colorful, thoughtful and refreshing!

Before I jump right in, I have to mention that I took this adventure with my girl Niki from HelloMissNiki! Niki celebrated her birthday the day before the event, and she looked radiant. She waited for me while I insisted on walking from my offices more than 20 blocks away, to the Target studio, so that we could experience the preview together! Did I mention it was a warm day in the middle of winter? And, I was wearing a winter coat? Ugh.

By the time I got to Niki, I was a sweat-soaked, hot-mess-express when it came to my makeup and hair! But you’d be hard-pressed to find a sweeter woman; while I fretted over my face and tried to quickly air dry my back from sweating during the walk, we caught up and laughed until we headed in. OF course we had to take a selfie! Or two. I can’t be serious all the time. Seriously.

It was a blast and my only regret is that I couldn’t stay and have dinner or a drink with her, but I had to head back to South Jersey! The best thing about blogging? All the wonderful friends I’ve made!

Anyway! Long post ahead, so let me jump in!

Kristin Ess Haircare

Target just announced that they will be carrying Kristin Ess Haircare, an exclusive new line created by celebrity hairstylist and co-founder of TheBeautyDepartment.com, Kristin Ess. The line is inspired by her work with clients like reality TV star and designer Lauren Conrad, and actresses Lucy Hale and Nikki Reed.

What I loved learning about this line is that the packaging is purposeful; Kristin created color schemes for her products – pink and white for those products that go in the shower, and gray/black for those that are meant to sit on your counters and shelves. According to a Target rep (she started walking us around the room but then we got sidetracked – more on that in a moment!), the idea is that these are products you don’t have to hide under your sink or in a medicine cabinet when you have company; they are designed to blend in. I LOVED hearing this story!

The collection is available online starting TODAY, and will be in stores on January 22. Prices range from $10 to $14. I’m most interested in trying the Dry Shampoo ($14)and Soft Shine Beach Wave Spray ($14), I think!

Pixi Beauty by Petra

target spring beauty Pixi Beauty BeautyJudy

Pixi Beauty by Petra is having SUCH a major spring launch!!!

Niki and I were touring with a Target rep when Petra Strand, the makeup artist who founded PIxi, locked eyes with Niki and I and she came over and we all hugged like old friends. Niki and Petra have such a wonderful connection! We spoke with Petra and Amanda Bell, global makeup artist for the brand, for quite a while. They taught us many things about a lot of the new Skintreats, and even shared some person stories and laughs. Before I get into the goodies, here I am with Petra (in blue) and Amanda!

I was wearing highlighter but I’m pretty sure this photo is proof of my hot mess express status.

Anyway! Not only is Pixi launching a ton of stuff, they’re celebrating the Target launch of their collab products with Aspyn Ovard, Caroline Hirons, Judy Travis and Maryam Maquillage!

Sonia Kashuk

In light of Sonia Kashuk stepping away from her brand at Target, I asked our preview tour guide if the name of the brand would change. She said no, they’re keeping it. Which I think is smart, from a relationship perspective.

So for spring, the collection features a range of performance-based makeup, brush sets and stunning, colorful makeup bags. There are core additions to the line that are being launched, as well as the cosmetic bags, will launch this month. The limited edition collection is launching in March. Here’s a peek at one of the limited edition pieces, the Pretty Cheeky Three-Pan Face Palette ($19.99):

The K-Beauty collection will be available in select Target stores and on Target.com starting January 22. Prices range from $3.50 Mizon Face Masks to $38 Mizon Snail Repair Cream. There’s a lot of in between prices and I am excited to get in on this trend. Check out a bunch of the products.

defy & INSPIRE

target spring beauty defy & INSPIRE BeautyJudy

Target’s own nail brand, defy & INSPIRE, will add 12 new seasonal polishes in stores on January 22 ($7.49). The theme? Reality TV! This polish in particular stood out to me, it’s called Rock of Love, and reminded me of the Halloween my husband and I dressed up as Heather and Brett…

W3ll People

W3ll People is a brand that is relaunching, and will be at Target soon! It’s a natural beauty company, promising pigmented and quality products. I thought the cosmetics looked nice, and I’d like to pick something up to try them out after they’re in stores!

  • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

The Pixi Palettes look so nice! Wish I’d been there with you!

    • BeautyJudy

We would have had fun!! The eye palette has been wonderful to work with so far.

    What an amazing event.

Tragically, my Target will get none of these things in store. They don’t even carry Pixi.

    • BeautyJudy

Gasp what! Oh no! I live in a really populated area with several Targets within like a half hour from me, and not all are created equal but they at least have Pixi!!

  • marciaf

What a fun event. I’m so happy that you got to experience this. The new products look fabulous. I’m most excited about new Pixi products (and you got to meet Petra), the new KBeauty, and fun shopping experiences.

    • BeautyJudy

I am most excited about the Pixi products too!!! But I should probably keep my wallet out of reach or go broke! Lol

  • http://www.cosmetopiadigest.com/ CosmetopiaDigest.com

Wow, that’s an amazing evening! How awesome that you met Petra – I’m dying to try the Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse. I didn’t know they were collaborating with Maryam Maquillage and the others as well. I’ll have to get ItsEyeTime as well.

    • BeautyJudy

Yes! Awesome collabs and products! Petra is such a sweet and down-toEarth woman and she’s really done something special with Pixi!

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

Wow, Judy, what an evening you had at Target! I don’t even know where to start. But thank you for all of this insider info. Not that I need one, but I must have one of those adorable SK makeup bags. I know my local Target won’t get the K-beauty because we’re out in the boonies and women around here don’t even know what it is but I will look for it at other stores. I hadn’t seen the SW Basics 1 Ingredient stuff before and I need rose water. And all the palettes, each prettier than the one before!

    • BeautyJudy

I want to try the rose water as well! The makeup bags are beautiful, I’m really impressed with SK bags I’ve tried so far!
