Nothing to disclose.
On Thursday in New York City, it felt like a warm, spring day. It was a total treat after a cold winter snow storm just a few days before it. Anyway, Target couldn’t have timed their Spring Beauty Preview event any more perfect than on a day when the temperatures were above 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle of January!
I could be stopping at Target for milk on my way home from work, right before I pick up my toddler from daycare. But I can’t go in without a quick jaunt up and down the beauty aisles; from the drugstore makeup brands to the exclusive hair care collections, I want to explore what Target curates for its shelves.
The lineup for spring 2017 promises to make my quick looks colorful, thoughtful and refreshing!
Before I jump right in, I have to mention that I took this adventure with my girl Niki from HelloMissNiki! Niki celebrated her birthday the day before the event, and she looked radiant. She waited for me while I insisted on walking from my offices more than 20 blocks away, to the Target studio, so that we could experience the preview together! Did I mention it was a warm day in the middle of winter? And, I was wearing a winter coat? Ugh.
By the time I got to Niki, I was a sweat-soaked, hot-mess-express when it came to my makeup and hair! But you’d be hard-pressed to find a sweeter woman; while I fretted over my face and tried to quickly air dry my back from sweating during the walk, we caught up and laughed until we headed in. OF course we had to take a selfie! Or two. I can’t be serious all the time. Seriously.
It was a blast and my only regret is that I couldn’t stay and have dinner or a drink with her, but I had to head back to South Jersey! The best thing about blogging? All the wonderful friends I’ve made!
Anyway! Long post ahead, so let me jump in!
Kristin Ess Haircare
Target just announced that they will be carrying Kristin Ess Haircare, an exclusive new line created by celebrity hairstylist and co-founder of TheBeautyDepartment.com, Kristin Ess. The line is inspired by her work with clients like reality TV star and designer Lauren Conrad, and actresses Lucy Hale and Nikki Reed.
What I loved learning about this line is that the packaging is purposeful; Kristin created color schemes for her products – pink and white for those products that go in the shower, and gray/black for those that are meant to sit on your counters and shelves. According to a Target rep (she started walking us around the room but then we got sidetracked – more on that in a moment!), the idea is that these are products you don’t have to hide under your sink or in a medicine cabinet when you have company; they are designed to blend in. I LOVED hearing this story!
The collection is available online starting TODAY, and will be in stores on January 22. Prices range from $10 to $14. I’m most interested in trying the Dry Shampoo ($14)and Soft Shine Beach Wave Spray ($14), I think!
Pixi Beauty by Petra
Pixi Beauty by Petra is having SUCH a major spring launch!!!
Niki and I were touring with a Target rep when Petra Strand, the makeup artist who founded PIxi, locked eyes with Niki and I and she came over and we all hugged like old friends. Niki and Petra have such a wonderful connection! We spoke with Petra and Amanda Bell, global makeup artist for the brand, for quite a while. They taught us many things about a lot of the new Skintreats, and even shared some person stories and laughs. Before I get into the goodies, here I am with Petra (in blue) and Amanda!
I was wearing highlighter but I’m pretty sure this photo is proof of my hot mess express status.

I can’t wait!!! The full spring launch will be available in Target stores and on Target.com beginning January 22. Prices range from $8 to $22.
In light of Sonia Kashuk stepping away from her brand at Target, I asked our preview tour guide if the name of the brand would change. She said no, they’re keeping it. Which I think is smart, from a relationship perspective.
So for spring, the collection features a range of performance-based makeup, brush sets and stunning, colorful makeup bags. There are core additions to the line that are being launched, as well as the cosmetic bags, will launch this month. The limited edition collection is launching in March. Here’s a peek at one of the limited edition pieces, the Pretty Cheeky Three-Pan Face Palette ($19.99):

Alicia Yoon’s Curated Korean Beauty Collection
So we all know that K-Beauty is hot right now. Well, Target is bringing the trend to its customers by introducing a curated collection of K-Beauty brands and products to shoppers from Alicia Yoon, licensed esthetician and found of K-Beauty retail platform, Peach & Lily.
The K-Beauty collection will be available in select Target stores and on Target.com starting January 22. Prices range from $3.50 Mizon Face Masks to $38 Mizon Snail Repair Cream. There’s a lot of in between prices and I am excited to get in on this trend. Check out a bunch of the products.

I’m not sure what this is or how much, but the packaging seems pretty explanatory:
Like I said, I can’t wait to dive into some of this skincare!
defy & INSPIRE
Target’s own nail brand, defy & INSPIRE, will add 12 new seasonal polishes in stores on January 22 ($7.49). The theme? Reality TV! This polish in particular stood out to me, it’s called Rock of Love, and reminded me of the Halloween my husband and I dressed up as Heather and Brett…
W3ll People is a brand that is relaunching, and will be at Target soon! It’s a natural beauty company, promising pigmented and quality products. I thought the cosmetics looked nice, and I’d like to pick something up to try them out after they’re in stores!
There was so much else. I took pics of some of the other launches that piqued my interest, check ’em out:
So, phew! I threw a lot out at you from pictures to words. Is there anything above that you can’t wait to try?! For me, it’s basically ALL of Pixi, the Sonia Kashuk lip gloss, makeup bags and brushes…the Plant Zit Zap, some of the K-Beauty products and a couple things from Kristin Ess Haircare.
Thanks for staying with me on this one! I look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments!
