Disclaimer: I bought this
I went into Walgreens for something completely unrelated to makeup, and walked out with three new Gotham Girls Makeup Collection Lip Paint + Lip Effect goodies from Tattoo Junkee.
But isn’t that always the way?
I’ve tried Tattoo Junkee’s Lip Paints and glitter effects in the past, and also have blogged about their glitter tattoos. I’ve always liked the brand, since learning about them. So I figured based on previous experience, I would get my spontaneous purchase, drugstore money’s worth with these lippies.
The first one I used was branded Cat Woman. Basically, the Tattoo Junkee Lip Paint has a Cat Woman logo sticker around the wand handle, branding it for the collection. That’s how all three are. The color of the Cat Woman Lip Paint is called Riot.
I took a cheesy photo of me looking adoringly at the packaging:
Look at me, all ready to get my lip on!
I cracked open the Lip Paint, which is a dark, rich pink, and I applied it to my lips.
This is how it came out:
After it dried down – all three of these dry matte – I dipped my finger into the small plastic pot of Lip Effect (a pinky-red shimmer powder) and used my finger to apply it to my lips.
I would recommend using a small eye shadow or lip brush to pat and blend the effect on your lips.
My lips had this amazing pink sheen to them after applying the effect powder.
I LOVE how this turned out.
I tried Bat Girl next, the color is called Dazed. And friends, it is BLUE and I’m just not one of those women who can successfully pull off blue lipstick. I need to make peace with that. But anyway. This one came with a powder that looked a little more like a loose eye shadow vs. a glitter. Here’s just the lippie (it hadn’t dried down yet):
And here’s after I added the effect:
My lips look awesome, if only the rest of my paleness wasn’t so…pale. I wish I could pull this off, the color is beautiful! The sheen is definitely a lighter blue but also a bit purply.
Confession: I was on my way out when I did this, and as soon as I took the pictures, I removed it from my lips. I’m just not confident enough to rock this outside of the house.
However, I want to experiment with this pigment over the other colors!
I have not worn Harley Quinn yet, but I did swatch her.
All three, swatched on my hand
Left is Riot, right is Riot with the effect over it.
Top is Dazed, bottom is Dazed with the effect over it.
Top is Pucker Up from the Harley Quinn set, and the bottom is with the Lip Effect over it.
Cat Woman is the one I actually wore, and I ate a yummy big Mexican food dinner out after applying her. When I got into the car, I checked my makeup in a mirror, and while I’d definitely wiped some off after eating, the color was very much alive and well on my lips and I didn’t need a touch up.
These do feel dry on my lips. In fact, I ran my tongue over my lips out of habit when I feel like my lips are dry, then remembered I had the effect over the lipstick and worried I’d rubbed it off. Nope. It does a pretty good job of gripping on your lip.
I know that those of you who do not like liquid lipstick are probably not going to change your mind with this product, but I do have a tolerance for these products. Even with that tolerance, these definitely feel dry to me compared with other matte-drying liquid lipsticks I use.
I used my Kleenex Eye Makeup Remover Pads to take these off my lips and the back of my hand.
Without the Gotham Girls branding, these Lip Paints and Lip Effects retail for $6.99. I can’t recall what I paid, I can’t find the recent, but it was either that or $5.99. Definitely a win. I like these three because the effects aren’t glitter. I would like to find more Tattoo Junkee Lippies with these kinds of effects.
Oh, and if you want to see more about the brand, check out their website here. Looks like you can get all three of these colors – without the comic branding – on the brand website.
What do you think of these fun lip products?!
