Disclosure: PR sample. See bottom.
I have an epic post of nail goodies for you today.
You’ve probably already seen swatches and nail art with the Winter/Holiday 2015 KBShimmer goodies, and usually I like to time my KBShimmer posts to time with the launch of the collection but…I’d like to think that this season, I’m here to remind you why you need these, if you’ve been dragging your feet. 🙂 For example, did you see Lisa from Cosmetic Sanctuary’s epic Fox nail art? And you STILL haven’t ordered For Fox Sake? (Side note, her swatches are amazing!)
My tardy-to-the-party swatchfest here…it’s got nothing to do with baby, job, illness, or work travel. Noooooooooo. 🙂 But seriously, I hope it helps you decide if you’re not sure on something.
Full disclosure: I’m in love with all of this. Not because I received samples. You know by now I’d shoot straight with you on things I dislike. Because this is a well-rounded, seasonal collection.
Check it out!
How Corn-y is described as a Indian corn-inspired nail polish with burgundy, gold, red and orange glitters in a creamy orange base. It’s basically Thanksgiving in a bottle, people. My first photo is with flash, second photo is in natural lighting. I used two coats. This is going to be on my nails as I’m passing the potatoes at my table this year.
Owl Miss You
Owl Miss You is described as a soft beige/neutral tan filled with golden metallic flakes and a bit of coppery metallic shimmer. I’m obsessed with the gold flakes in this polish – the whole thing takes work appropriate neutral to a whole new, hip level. Shown here in two coats. First photo is flash, second is natural lighting.
Brr-tiful Dreamer is described as a muted grape-leaning gray nail polish with aqua, silver, purple and fuchsia glitters. I’ve been loving this base color right now, I’ve worn some version of it two or three times already. I can’t wait to wear this in a full mani. I used two coats for my swatch; first photo is flash and second is natural lighting.
Smoke Signal is described as a smoky, light gray polish with orange, red and aqua holographic glitters. Is there a smoke signal that can be interpreted as, “put me on your nails!”? This is two coats. There’s something I love about the orange and aqua combo in this one – like it’s perking up a cloudy, winter day. First photo is flash, second is natural lighting.
For Fox Sake
For Fox Sake is described as a dusty, red-leaning orange creme polish. I had trouble photographing this one accurately, and thinking it’s even just a shade lighter than my photo. My regular camera kept whiting it out. This pairs perfectly with the fox water slide decals (see further below) and is a nice refreshing shade for the typical vampy season! Shown here in two coats, photo in natural lighting.
Chilly Pepper is described as a true Christmas red creme – this one is amazing. Two coats of creamy application. This is a must-have for those who love sporting red nails at the holidays AND year-round, and it’s perfect for holiday nail art, too. This is going to be the base for my annual Santa Suit nails, which I’ve been doing since 2009. If you click the link for that tutorial, don’t judge me horribly, I think I’ve gotten better 🙂
Yule Worthy is described as a warm burgundy-leaning, chocolate brown nail polish with micro metallic flakes; this one is classy. I used two coats. It has such a sublte, beautiful shift between brown and burgundy, I don’t know if I have anything quite like it. First photo is flash, second is natural lighting.
Kind of a Big Dill
Kind of a Big Dill is described as a deep, nearly forest green loaded with micro and small silver holographic glitters. “Perfect for those that love a pickle on their Christmas tree!” Someone … please tell me about pickles on Christmas trees. This is a new concept to me. I’m curious…yet scared. Regardless, this polish has a GLOW. Like the small glitters are floating in the jelly base. It’s beautiful. First photo is flash, second natural lighting. Also – it’s MUCH more holo in person than in my photos.
sELFie is described as a holographic glitter topper perfect for pairing with Chilly Pepper or used alone for a full coverage textured look. First photo flash, second natural lighting. I used three coats to get it as opaque as possible, but I’ll probably use this one as a topper. It’s like a Christmas tree on my nails!
Fleece Navidad is described as a soft, silvery light gray nail polish with holographic sparkle and blue micro flakes. I used two coats here, first photo is flash, second is natural. This is one of my favorites. Such a subtle beauty. I purchased some of the navy snowflake Water Slide Decals, and this will go perfect with them, in my opinion!
Claws and Effect
Claws and Effect is described as a dark purple-leaning navy holo nail polish with blue/pink shifting glass flakes. I put on two coats of this beauty – first is flash and second is a purposely-blurry shot to show off those shifting flakes. THIS IS GORGEOUS.
Coal in One
Coal in One is described as a charcoal gray linear holo nail polish – it’s opaque in two coats. It applied great. If this is what coal is, I’ll definitely take this in my stocking. First photo is with flash, second photo is in natural lighting to show you how strong that holo is! LOOKIT!
Fourth Annual Toys for Tots Charity Polish
Toying Around is a toy-inspired polish, filled with a rainbow of colorful matte glitters in stars, squares, circles, triangles and hexes according to KBShimmer. There’s also a bit of micro sparkle in this glitter topper.
When imagining Santa’s workshop, it’s hard to not think about an explosion of colorful toy parts and wrapping paper and that is exactly what Toying Around looks like!
“As a mother, I know how important Christmas is for a child, and therefore choosing Toys For Tots as our charity was a perfect fit,” KBShimmer Owner Christy Rose said in a press release. “This is the fourth year that we have donated to our local Toys for Tots group, a tradition I hope is in place for many years to come.”
From November 2nd through December 15th, $4 from the sale of each bottle of “Toying Around” sold on www.kbshimmer.com will be donated to the Terre Haute (KBShimmer headquarters location) chapter of Toys for Tots. Each bottle retails for $8.75.
Nail Art Bits
Yep. I took a computer screen photo of the new Cat Vinyls because I was having trouble figuring out how to turn a PNG into a JPEG and I’m on a time clock as I write this. Husband has the baby til noon so I can do things, then I have the baby so he can do things. Taking this photo was easier. Credit for the photo in the photo goes to KBShimmer. You get the point – these are AWESOME COOL CAT VINYLS! I can NOT wait to try these out. They are $5. I’ve reviewed KBShimmer’s vinyls before, here.
I love these little bags of glitter that KBShimmer throws in with your order! I haven’t done a glitter placement nail design in a while, I’m feeling inspired.
I received two of the above Water Slide Decals for review, and the rest I purchased. There are many others that launched for winter, I’m just showing you the holiday-specific ones. The foxes are adorable, right?! These retail for $2.95 a pack. I’ve reviewed the water decal here and here.
I’ll be creating posts using these nail art bits over the holiday season! Stay tuned!
So this was one massive post, right?!
The only polish I didn’t review is Oh Holo Night. I choose not to accept the sample, but now I’m going to go back and order it. Why? Because I need this whole collection. And I’m going to order some of KBShimmer’s bath products, too. (Check out their seasonal mani shot scents!!!)
There are some brands that I have come to depend on for winner collections at certain seasons. KBShimmer transcends that. They hit the mark for me every release. I LOVE LOVE that this collection is so well-rounded in terms of finish and color. It’s truly holiday and season from Thanksgiving through winter, and can be a complete nail wardrobe – especially with the vinyls and water slide decals!
The polishes are available through KBShimmer.com, Amazon.com, select salons and retailers and for my international friends, check out HarlowandCo.org for your fix. Polishes are $8.75, except the cremes, which are $7.50.
Starting November 2, all orders more than $75 will receive a KBShimmer Cosmetic Bag in pink. Each bag will include a full sized bottle of Clearly On Top, a KBShimmer emery board, a .75 oz Mani Shot, Lotion Sample, Scrub Sample and Soap Sample (scents will vary). This offer good while supplies last and I hope you score it! I received one and I love it.
What’s your favorite KBShimmer winter/holiday goodie?!
Disclaimer: I received the polish and decals from the PR Firm/Manufacturer for honest consideration. Please visit my Disclosure tab for more information on how BeautyJudy.com keeps it real!
