KBShimmer water slide decals mod floral review and nail art on BeautyJudy

Water slide decals are incredibly easy to use, and KBShimmer recently launched a variety of them that can be used to cover the nail.

Between baby (3-months-old already!!) and the move (we bought a house!!), I’ve only had time to do nail art with one of the sets, the Mod Floral (N238) set. I’m excited to play with the others, and post more nail art  and a tutorial with them.

In this post, I simply wanted to share my thoughts on product experience!

I will outline my process, though!

First, I painted my nails with KBShimmer Leggo My Mango; except the spots where I added the decals. The website recommends a white base as the best for these decals, so in the places I added decals, I used KBShimmer Eyes White Open. I free-handed the painting, not worrying about the lines between the color and the white, knowing the decal would cover it.

Oh – and I added a coating of KBShimmer Dust in the Bottle to my index finger, since I wanted a decal-free finger!

I took the decals and cut them close to my nail size in shapes I wanted to use them in.

I used a pointed cotton swab soaked with nail polish remover, and sometimes a small brush dipped in remover, to clean up the excess decal around my nail.

I sealed everything with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I honestly found application to be easy. You want to make sure your nail polish is dry before you use the decals, so I used a quick-dry top coat and was able to finish the mani relatively soon. So the whole mani maybe took an hour or less to do. It’s important to consider what the best base is with the decals, or else you’ll lose the vivid designs in the background color.

The only thing I would note is that the decals did start with tip wear a bit quicker than my polish normally would.

I can’t wait to do another mani with the decals. As soon as I used these, and wore them, I ordered a bunch more from the website. These decals cost $2.95 for a sheet, which for me is a great price point! And using them as art vs. a full-cover on the nail, you can see I’m going to get a couple (at least) manicures from this sheet.

Have you tried KBShimmer Water Slide Decals yet? I’d love to know if you’re going to if not, and what your experience was if you did!
