I’m relatively new to Pur Minerals; last week I reviewed and loved the new Air Perfection CC Compact Cushion Foundation with SPF 50. Now, I’ve taken the brand’s new Double Ego Dual-Ended Eyeliner and Volume Vixen Mascara for a test drive.
Volume Vixen Mascara
Volume Vixen Mascara promises false lash length, life, volume and lash restoration. It’s paraben-free, formulated with keratin and panthenol (vitamin B5), which are designed to nourish and condition lashes. Ultra-light polymers are designed to deliver build without clumping or weighing down lashes.
The wand has reservoirs to deposit more product on lashes, eliminating multiple dips back into the tube.
Volume Vixen retails for $21 and in addition to Ulta, can be found on the Pur Minerals site here.
Double Ego Dual-Ended Eyeliner
The eight-shade range of Double Ego Dual-Ended Eyeliner has a mineral pencil on one end and a liquid liner on the other (same color).
Here’s a back of the hand swatch of the shade I tried out, Madagascar:
Pencil on the left, liquid on the right.
Double Ego retails for $21 and in addition to Ulta, can be found on the Pur Minerals site here.
How do they perform?
Before eye makeup:
I used Volume Vixen on my lashes with Double Ego in Madagascar – I lined my lid with the liquid liner and added the pencil to my lower lash line. (The eye shadow is another upcoming review!)
While I don’t think Volume Vixen really gave me false lash length, it gave me definition, volume and I was happy with the length. This is a great everyday mascara for me, but I do have other mascaras that are from the drug store that provide me more length. Something I don’t mention often is that I wear contacts and have sensitive eyes; this mascara worked well for my sensitive peepers.
I can’t speak to whether Volume Vixen restores lashes or not, because I haven’t consistently been wearing it, but it did feel comfortable in terms of weightless-ness each time I wore it.
Double Ego was easy to use. Neither side tugged my lid when I applied. I really love the combo, I find it handy. I also think this would be good for the individual who isn’t used to using liquid liner. You can line your lid first with the pencil, and then using the pencil line as a guide, go over with the liquid.
I would purchase more shades of Double Ego, and I would purchase this mascara.
Have you tried either of these? What do you think? I think my favorite of the two is Double Ego!
