zoya velvet matte collection review and swatches on BeautyJudy 2014

As you know, matte is back in a big way! It’s so hot right now, that Zoya decided to bring back its six Velvet Matte polishes!

I went back through my archives to see if I have swatches of all six of these, but the only one I got was Veruschka back in 2009. But my blog is pretty much broke from when I started it in February 2009 to June 2010 – that is the month/year when I moved onto my own domain, and I lost my pictures and I never figured out how/why or got them back. It’s probably something I could have fixed but I was an idiot!

Anyway! Zoya’s Velvet Matte collection is a rich, smooth collection. It’s got jewel tones, and it’s got smoke – all with no lack of shimmer! The colors are perfect for fall but will easily transition into holiday and winter.

Let’s check them out!

Loredana:

Loredana is a gunmetal grey packed with shimmer. It applied easily in two coats. The shimmer looks like it’s got a blue hint to it, but I don’t see that when I pull the brush out of the bottle. But it’s beautiful.

Dovima:

Dovima is a black matte with shimmer. The shimmer on this one has a subtle multi-colored effect in the sun that you can see in my sun swatch. Again, applied easily in two coats. Notice my nails are shorter than my swatch of Loredana? I’ve been holding onto a cracked/broken nail for two weeks and as I took my Loredana swatch off, the piece finally just broke off. I had to cut and file all my nails down. At least I can type faster!

Posh:

Posh is a beautiful red shimmer matte. I apologize, my paint job on this is horrible. But the polish itself is beautiful. Applied in two coats.

Veruschka:

Verushcka is an evergreen matte with shimmer – this one is perfect for fall, winter and holiday. I’m happy to have a new bottle of this (I swatched the new one, not the old one I bought years ago!). Applied great in two coats.

Savita:

Savita is a beautiful grape with shimmer. This is another of my favorites, I love the magenta shimmer in this one and the pop of matte color on my nails.

Harlow:

Harlow is a wine packed with silver shimmer. Again, applied easily in two coats. Another of my favorites!

I love how easy these applied, and how quickly they start drying.

You can find the Zoya Velvet Matte collection on the Zoya site here for $9 a bottle or $54 for the (full size) sampler pack.

Did you pick any of these up? Are you planning on it? I’d love to know what you think of these mattes!
