Because of my rosacea, I prefer a foundation for my face makeup. But, I keep an open mind and I’m always pleasantly surprised when I discover a tinted moisturizer, light coverage foundation or powder that is able to cover what I feel are my imperfections – basically, my redness.

I received a sample of the NYX Cosmetics Tinted Moisturizer from NYX while at Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas in July, but it was too dark for my skin tone. I really wanted to try it so I went out and purchased the lightest shade, Buff. It’s still a little too dark for my skin tone but it worked well enough for me to wear-test it.

First thing I noticed when I opened the cap was that it’s safety sealed. I love this.

The moisturizer is very liquid. Here’s the darker shade NYX gave me, Soft Beige, on my hand:

You can see that while it’s a “tinted” moisturizer, the pigmentation is nice.

It didn’t take the red from my cheeks or chin completely, but the look is more natural than foundation, and better than without anything. It really went a long way in evening up my skin tone.

My skin tends to get oily as the day progresses, and this started breaking down about halfway through the day. I quicky touched it up in places like my chin, around my nose after blotting my skin with oil-absorbing papers. I didn’t have to touch up everywhere.

Here’s my complete makeup look:

It’s unfortunate that this isn’t light enough for me to continue wearing, as this would be a great lightweight formula to wear in summer as it changes into fall. I hope NYX releases a couple of lighter shades in this Tinted Moisturizer, I would buy it again.

You can find the NYX Tinted Moisturizer where NYX is sold – I bought mine at Ulta. You can find it here on the brand website, too. It retails for $10 but with coupons at Ulta and sales you can always find it cheaper!

Have you tried this yet? What are your thoughts?!
