Zoya always has a busy New York Fashion Week schedule, with coveted shades created with the designers they work with, in addition to creative uses of existing shades.
This year, I popped over to check out the backstage report on Zoya nails at Mark & Estel and Zimmermann. Of course, Mark & Estel was on the opposite end of town from the show I had before it, and I missed out on the hustle and bustle of nails, hair and makeup. I did catch a pic, though, and chatted with one of the team mates before dashing off to the next Zoya show!
Mark & Estel
For Mark & Estel, Zoya Creative Director Rebecca Isa chose a brand new, one-coat opaque black for the model’s nails called Willa. Willa will release in November, according to the brand PR.
One of my favorite nail artists, Cinnamon Bowser, led the nail magic for the show!
On the board above, you can see that show attendees received gift bags that included the upcoming Willa, as well as Livingston and Purity.
I also got a sneak peek at a new, upcoming line for October that I can’t wait to share more about, but I swore my secrecy!

Rebecca Isa told me Zimmermann puts on one of her favorite shows during NYFW each season. This time around, the designer showed ultra feminine looks with ruffles and curves, all with a mystic world feel, she said. The designers were using the hashtag #tellmeseer on Instagram!
Rebecca said after different variations on designs, the team landed on using Zoya Ziv, a two-tone gold that came out for Holiday 2012 and nail art using negative space in a nontraditional way. Ziv really fit the silver and gold accents in Zmmermann’s SS15 fashion, Rebecca said, and the naked teardrop design fit in with the curves of the clothing.
She called the look the “Naked teardrop,” because Ziv is really surrounding an off-centered teardrop of negative space.

How the models looked:
I just have to say – I totally felt like a fan girl meeting Rebecca! I’ve quoted her in articles I’ve done for the newspaper, and I know she’s the guru of color over at Zoya, and therefore, she’s been someone I admire for a while. She was so awesome and down-to-Earth, I felt like I could have had a margarita and picked her brain about all things nails!
I didn’t get the beauty report, but I took a pic at the eye makeup – I love the placement of the jewel on each eye and the gold shimmer in the inner eye corners. Definitely a mystical, pretty look. Calvin Klein was the main brand being used by makeup artists

I have to say that meeting Rebecca was amazing. Nail artists, creative directors, nail company founders…these people are my rock stars!
So what do you think of the “naked teardrop” mani?! Are you excited for Willa?! And would YOU fangirl over meeting a nail artist, too?!
