When I asked Jane Iredale how she felt about celebrating the 20th anniversary of her namesake cosmetic brand, her eyes lit up and her face took on a shocked look.

“It that possible?! It just went so fast,” she said. “We started with just one pot of powder.”

Jane Iredale grew her brand word of mouth, one customer at a time, and says she went from niche to cult to mainstream brand over the course of her 20 years.

Because she saw the skin of actors as a casting director, actors going from job to job, makeup to makeup, their skin getting damaged, she wanted to do something to help. This, along with a long-time interest in natural products, spurred her on to create her mineral makeup line with skin care ingredients, she said.

Her favorite product from her line? PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation. It comes in 24 shades and includes SPF 20. “I wear it everyday,” she said.

I told Jane I’m a lip product junkie, and asked her what her favorite lip product is from her line. “I’m a gloss girl,” she said. Music to my ears! She mentioned her PureGloss and Just Kissed Lip Plumper line among her favorites.

I was delighted to chat with Jane, enjoying everything from how beautiful her skin looked, to her delightful British accent, and her kindness. Here we are together at a recent event in New York City, where the brand celebrated the launch of its fall collection, City Nights, and celebrated its relationship with bloggers:

Kir Royale is a shimmery red plum with a sheer tint of color and sparkle.

Here’s swatches of everything. First photo is flash, second is natural light:

For this eye look, I used Purple on the top lid, Green on bottom, all three shadows on my lid:

The Jelly Jar Gel Eyeliners work great. I use an angled eyeliner brush to apply them.

The eye shadow trio was easy to work with, blended well on the lid.

Katerina and Kir Royale lasted together for hours from about 7:30 a.m. until I ate lunch and wiped them off.

This collection will launch this September, and be available on the Jane Iredale site.

The price points are:

  • Jelly Jars: $28 a piece
  • Celebrate eye shadow trio: $35
  • Katerina PureMoist: $25
  • Kir Royale PureGloss: $24

It’s hard for me to pick a favorite from this collection, but I would say the the eye products win it for me this time. The gloss and lipstick are fantastic together, but I really love how my eyes looked the day I wore all of the makeup on my eyes!

What about you – do you see anything you want from this makeup collection?
