Serum No 5 is releasing a new Love Lacquer called “Another Year, Let’s Cheer!” in celebration of, well, another year of business! Plus, they’re launching nail stencils/vinyls!

Mark your calendars for THIS THURSDAY, JULY 24, for the new releases in this post!

Happy anniversary, Serum No 5!

I was fortunate to see Victoria, owner of Serum No 5, at Cosmoprof NALV again this year, but disappointed she was one of the many indies I didn’t get to talk with at length about her product.

Admittedly, I don’t have much experience with the brand; I have not bought from the site yet. But I was first introduced to the brand last year, and I love everything about her line from what I’ve seen and experienced so far – from the clean, crisp labeling and boxes, to the unique colors and glow-in-the-dark quality of some of her polishes! I haven’t had a bad experience, and I have already been making a mental shopping list among her nail art bits, among other things – ooh la la! I want to place my order Friday, on pay day. Who doesn’t love shopping for nail art bits and new polish (neon glow-in-the-dark polish? YES PLEASE) on pay day?!

With all the new brands I’ve been exposed to in recent days, I’m going to go broke!

Anyway! Another Year, Let’s Cheer!, is a beautiful glitter topper that I actually wore in two coats by itself! It’s jam-packed with white square and hex glitters (in a couple sizes), black square and hex glitters, silver/grey hex glitters, super light blue glitters – oh, and light peach hex glitters. There’s also a super fine micro shimmer – and of course, it glows in the dark!

Actually, the colors of the glitters match the colors on the bottom of the Serum No 5 polish boxes – on purpose! Victoria said the polish is inspired by her colors. Very fitting!

In the dark! I did a crap job really capturing this – it was much stronger than my photo demonstrates!

Like I said, I did two coats of this, no undies. It wore great for two days, no chips.

Serum No 5 is also adding nail stencils/vinyls to their nail art offerings, called Cut It Out Vinyls! The inspiration is actually Uncle Joey’s “Cut It Out” bit from “Full House!” These will come in 28 different colors, and designs will include:

  • Anchors Away (whales, crabs)
  • Life’s a Beach (dolphins, palm trees)
  • Lovely Magic (unicorn, stars)
  • Queen Bee (bees, hives)
  • Under the Sea (mermaids, seahorses)

I received a sample sheet of Lovely Magic to try out! I decided to use the Serum No 5 polish, Flashing Lights, with Essie Hide & Go Chic. I chose the stars, hearts, and unicorn stencils/decals to use!

This was my first time using a stencil for a detailed design like the unicorn, and it turned out OK; I could have done better on the tail, but it turned out pretty well! I failed when I tried to use the unicorn decal and paint over it and lift it up. I had to redo the nail and choose the outline of the unicorn, which worked better. I’ll have to keep practicing.

I LOVED the hearts, they were super easy to use.

I always adhere the stencil/vinyl to the back of my hand, peel it off with a pair of fine-point tweezers, and apply to my nail to take off some of the strong adhesion. Always make sure your polish is dry when you do this, as you WILL mess up your mani if it’s not dry.

After I apply the stencil or vinyl, I apply two quick coats of polish and immediately remove the stencil/vinyl to get the design.

Flashing Lights, as a side note, is a beautiful glitter. I could use it on it’s own, but I loved kickin’ up Hide & Go Chic with it. It glittered in the sun! I used two coats on my pinky, too, over two coats of Hide & Go Chic. I did not use top coat over Flashing Lights, except for on my unicorn nail!

Another Year, Let’s Cheer! will retail at $12 and the Cut It Out Vinyls will retail for $6 each. Both will be found on the Serum No 5 site at Noon PDT on Thursday, July 24!

So what do you think about Serum No 5’s anniversary lacquer? Will you try out those Cut It Out Vinyls? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
