Milani just launched a huge, 30-piece line of single eye shadows called Bella Eyes; these eye shadows have an interesting formula – they start out as a gel, and transform into a powder. They’re billed as one-stroke, vibrant color, all for $3.99 a pop.
Sound too good to be true?
The quality of these eye shadows overall is no joke, friends. I am impressed with what Milani has done here – check out some swatches and then a couple looks. Warning: this is a pic heavy post!
All the eye shadows have “Bella” in their name – Bella Sand, Bella Chiffon, etc. So in the swatch photos I skipped typing out “Bella” and just the color identifier. But I’ll intro them with, “Bella.”
Each set of three will include a product shot, flash swatches and natural light swatches. I won’t go into too much detail on color descriptions, because the names of the shadows reflect their color in most cases. I’ll provide some overall thoughts on quality prior to sharing a couple looks!
Bella Gold, Bella Copper and Bella Mandarin
Bella Espresso, Bella Cappuccino, Bella Caffe
Bella Ivory, Bella Champagne, Bella Bronze
Bella Chiffon, Bella White, Bella Diamond
Bella Purple, Bella Violet, Bella Rouge
Bella Black, Black Charcoal, Bella Taupe
Bella Fuchsia, Bella Rose, Bella Pink
Bella Navy, Bella Cobalt, Bella Teal
Bella Emerald, Bella Khaki, Bella Sand
They feel slightly cool to the touch when you rub your finger in them, as well as soft and velvety. They are, for the most part, very pigmented.
One of them I felt was finicky: Bella Fuchsia. It deposits color on one sweep, but it isn’t very vibrant. It was hard to build up, too.
My favorite: Bella Teal. Talk about vibrant! I can’t wait to use this one in a look!
Each of these offered buildable coverage. I used my finger to swatch them, and covered half the back of my hand with eye shadow primer. I applied the shadows over both spots on my hand, and I noticed that these definitely work best over eye shadow primer.
For me, it doesn’t matter too much whether this is one-stroke. I use brushes to apply my eye makeup and I blend. So the pigmentation on the ones I’ve worn in looks so far has been great for that.
As far as staying power, these wore on me from morning til bed time with no creasing, over primer. How about a couple looks?
- Bella Sand on inner lid
- Bella Mandarin on outer lid to blend with Bella Sand
- Bella Emerald in crease
- Bella Chiffon to brow for highlight
For this look, I used:
- Bella Pink on inner lid
- Bella Gold on outer lid blended into Bella Rose
- Bella Espresso in crease
- Bella Ivory on brow to highlight
SO! I know this was an epic-ally long post – but what shadows jump out at you?! Any must-haves? Have you tried these? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
