I’m a HUGE fan of the color blue. Cobalt was the color of my bridesmaids’ dresses. Blue is the signature color of my blog watermark. Blue is EVERYTHING in my world!
When I heard that Milani Cosmetics launched a limited edition collection of cosmetics round my favorite color, called Bella Blue, I started stalking my local drugstores. While I did get the opportunity to review samples, I definitely planned to buy each piece before that! Check out what’s in this collection:
Lash Art Colored Mascara
Check out my before lash picture, then check out an eye look of each one!
Bella Blue is a sapphire blue with shimmer.
I was surprised how much I liked this – from application to wear, this one was my favorite of the three.
Azure is a bright blue with shimmer. I love this one, as well, it made my lashes look long and gave them an amazing color! The only thing was, my lash line burned as the day wore on. I don’t know if maybe I’m allergic to something with this mascara, but it bothered my eyes a bit.
Mediterranean Blue is a pool or ocean blue. This one also bothered my eyes, I had burning along the lash line, mostly on my right eye. My eyes watered and I couldn’t wait to get home from work to take it off.
I share my experience with what I think is an allergic reaction but caution you that this is an individual thing, and my eyes and skin are sensitive. Not everyone will experience this.
Mediterranean Blue was more finicky in application than the other two – perhaps because it’s not a shimmer? I don’t know. But it made me look a little bit like I had insect legs for lashes. I found this very odd.
One of my readers that follows along on social media commented on one of my mascara swatches that she experienced flaking during wear. I did not have that experience, but these were great, long-wearing mascaras for me and therefore tough to take off – especially Azure and Mediterranean Blue. I really soaked my cotton pad with makeup remover and tried to be as gentle as possible.
Bella Blue definitely wins for favorite all around for me, of the three.
Lip Art Lipstick in Bella Blue
This lipstick is a frosty denim blue that didn’t apply all that great; it was kinda patchy. It doesn’t feel like the same formula as the line’s Color Statement Lipsticks. Here’s lip swatches – flash and then natural light:
Here’s how I looked with it on:
Honestly, I don’t think this denim blue hue is a great shade for me. So I mixed it with Milani Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss in Rose Blush layered over it. Check out the sparkles!
I can’t believe I took pictures with lipstick on my teeth. Please don’t look at that train wreck! LOL But doesn’t it look much more friendly with my skin tone after Rose Blush? Just a great tip for those who might be wary of a blue lipstick – you can do cool layering with it!
Nail Polish in Bella Blue
Let’s jump right in – here’s swatches!
This blue is a beautiful blackened blue shimmer. It reminds me of a collection Milani released a few years ago around Halloween. Bella Blue has a shift to purple in the bottle that doesn’t totally translate on the nail for me. I’ve worn it here in two coats. It’s highly pigmented and a favorite from this collection for me! It applied easily, I really like the formula.
The collection is available here on the Milani site now. The lipstick is $3.99, the nail polish is $4.99 and the mascaras are $3.99 each. The collection is also available at select Walgreens, Fred Meyer and Kmart stores.
So what do you think of this blue-themed collection? Are there any pretties you picked up, or you’re looking for? If you want any, grab ’em now before they’re gone!
