My first night outfit! Dress from Vince Camuto (a cheap find at Ross or TJ Maxx), John’s Fashion shoes from JDR Shoe Warehouse (local shop)
I have a lot of individual brand posts that include reviews, and those start tomorrow! And it will likely take me weeks and months to get them posted. Phew!
But there were other things I saw around the show, people I met, things I saw, that I wanted to find a place for – so here’s my “Cosmoprof tidbits” post. I hope you like!
My show nails (the ones I started the trip with, anyway!) included Morgan Taylor Water Baby with blue foil over it on my pinky and index fingers, KBShimmer Low and Be Bold and Periwinkle in Time with Nail Vinyls‘ lightening bolt design creating a funky look on my middle and ring fingers! I changed manis on Sunday – post about that is going live tomorrow!
This is my third year meeting Zoya. I didn’t chat with her like I did last year, but it was nice to stop by and say hi!
My review of Probelle‘s treatments went up while I was at the show. I can’t say enough about how much of a difference this made in the health of my nails. Here’s a link to my review.
I’m not a big false lash fan, but if you’re going to give them a try, Eylure said they are the original creator of the false lash, starting in 1947. They’ve lashed up Elizabeth Taylor (in the movie Cleopatra!) and what’s unique about their lashes is not just that they’re made with human hair, but the lashes are baked into the curved shape they come in, which the brand said helps them adhere to your eye lid better.
The brand is launching “eye lash wardrobes,” which you can see above – Paris, New York and London. London provides texture, Paris volume and New York length. These will be limited edition and retail for $12.99.
The brand is also launching eyebrow solutions.
Teadora is a new skincare brand that gets its ingredients from the Amazon rain forest. Everything is natural, and smells amazing. There are two main scents – Rainforest at Dawn and Rainforest at Dusk. Both were nice. I loved this body polish in Rainforest at Dawn!
You never know who you’re gonna run into!
I took a picture with Naja, who was working the Essie booth!Leslie, me and Krystal cheesed and showed our excitement before the start of the Cirque Du Soleil Michael Jackson One show Monday night. WE WERE EXCITED! I loved the photobombing of the couple behind us. They were getting a good laugh at us; I couldn’t cut them out of the photo!
“Don’t follow your passion. Follow your effort.”
“One thing that cures all ills – sales.”
“How much effort do you put into selling? Nothing sells itself.”
“Great customer service is like great sex. You do it. You ask them if they liked it. If they liked it, you do it again.”
“I love social media. But you’ve got to understand it. It’s a moving target.”
“You have to re-earn social media everyday.”
“(I admire) young entrepreneurs who are looking at what’s been done and thinking, ‘what can I do differently.'”
“You have to recognize that employees aren’t going to be at your place forever. Allow them to create a network…give poeple support…”
“You can’t get caught up in yourself.”
“What if you train them, and they leave? But what if you don’t train them, and they stay?”
“I had lots of jobs that sucked but I learned from all of them.”
“You’re getting paid to learn (even at bad jobs).”
I walked into the keynote with no impression of Mark whatsoever, and I walked out respecting his business attitude!
The brand is also launching some brushes, including this soft tip that would be GREAT for cleanup:
I’m not one for grapefruit scents, but this Gena Mani Spa line – scrub, soak, lotion and cuticle gel – smells amazing and sounds like it does amazing things. I’m definitely going to try this line! Gena is from the parent company of China Glaze.
Speaking of spa. Another great line of spa goodies? From Essie. This is a pro line, though, so you have to find a salon that carries it and will pamper you with it!
True by Issac Mizrahi
Designer Issac Mizrahi is launching a cosmetic line, True! There will be what they call 140 skus (which means a bunch of different products) ranging from lips to tips, including hero products in the skincare portion of the line. Prices range from $12 to $68, and it’s launching on the designer’s website in October! The theme of the line is “healthy glamour.”
I learned the coolest thing about Jouer (which means “to play” in French!) Cosmetics is the ability to create your own palette of color by clicking together your blush, powder, lip gloss, etc., in one neat palette. Like above. I didn’t realize you could do that with Jouer Cosmetics, but they said to me, it’s all about the connect-ability! SUPER COOL.The brand told me that the above product, Long Wear, Crease-Resistant Eye Shadow, is launching September 1 and will be available in the August Birchbox, and Nordstrom.com.
Precision Nail Lacquer
I’m going to have swatches of the brand’s fall collection, but I wanted to share this – their newest red shade called Billion Dollar Red. They also have a Million Dollar Red! Beautiful! Very opaque and pigmented.
Launching at Sally’s soon will be Nail Sugar, a line of lacquers that is made by the parent company of Cuccio. Also, these Cina Pro nail kits are coming, too! They will also be at CosmoProf, the pros-only store, in addition to Sally’s:
This was like the never-ending post!!! I hope you learned a couple things that pique your interest, and that you’ll be keeping an eye out for! I can’t wait to share with you all the other awesome things I discovered and learned at Cosmoprof! There’s a lot of cool stuff coming. Just wait!
