The first stop I made at The Makeup Show New York City a few weeks ago was the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics booth. I wanted to get the low-down on the newest Stained Gloss Lip Tar launch, and chat with Founder and Owner David Klasfeld!
I’ll get to the Dune Generation collection in another post, but David shared with me another upcoming launch that I wanted to share with you first! The Lip Tar Pro Pack x 5 Super Naturals.
The Super Naturals is a five-piece set of Lip Tars strategically grouped so that the makeup artist – and consumer! – can mix the shades to find the perfect neutral shade they want/need!
Included in the kit is:
- Iced – pure white frost
- Ophelia – petal pink flush
- Zhora – pale peach-gold metallic
- Marion – rose beige neutral
- Starling – a rich auburn
- #010 Precision Lip Brush
Starling is the only Lip Tar I couldn’t find on the OCC or Sephora website by itself.
Check these out; first in flash then in natural light:

In that last photo I just mixed the swatches together.
I had to try a swatch of Starling by itself, since I hadn’t heard of it until this set:
This photographed a bit more of a brighter red than it actually is with flash.
Next, I played with color combos. My favorite mixing Lip Tar turned out to be Zhora. Honestly, I just love Zhora, period!
This is Zhora, Ophelia and Iced. Here’s the mixed result on my lips:
Here’s another three-some – Zhora, Ophelia and Starling:
Here it is mixed on the back of my hand:
And, on my lips:
Because Lip Tars are so concentrated, you don’t need nearly as much of the colors that I used in mixing; I was using a bunch for dramatic blog pics! If you do want to make extra, to have with you for touch ups, or to have for later, I’d suggest getting small, air tight jars to put excess into. I hold onto the jars of makeup (especially loose eye shadow, the size is perfect!) that I use up all the time, for purposes like this!
Sephora has other OCC Pro Pack sets listed, like this one here, for $49 (a $90 value with each at $18 a piece). David mentioned this would launch on the OCCMakeup.com site soon.
What do you think of this Super Naturals set? I loved finding a great pinky brown neutral for myself, which I think looks best. What neutral would you mix to discover?!
