It’s that time of year again. Bare legs require routine shaving and exposed skin becomes the thing – and it has an opportunity to shine.

Jane Iredale has launched Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion – a product that launched this month and is only available while supplies last – for just those right ways to glow. This lotion is a moisturizer that offers a subtle veil of shimmer designed to warm and smooth the complexion.

Here’s the ingredients:

A tube of Golden Shimmer has 1.7 fl oz of product, and smells lightly like citrus. I’m not a huge citrus scent fan, but this doesn’t bother me because it doesn’t linger.

When you take it out of the box and twist off the cap, it’s safety sealed.

Here’s how it looks on the back of my hand – squeezed, gently rubbed in, and then blended out:

It looks a little like a lighter Nars Orgasm lotion.

I decided to test this out on my legs, as well as my face! First up, legs. Here’s a before pic:

I’m pale as anything, really.

Here we go, one leg (the right one) done up with Golden Shimmer:

A close-up of my right leg:

To be honest, you can’t tell the difference in the comparison left-right leg photo. You can see the reflecting shimmer in the close-up, though. This is definitely subtle, but nice.

Here’s both legs done:

I wore this Monday to a Memorial Day BBQ in the 80+ degree heat, although I spent most of my time indoors in the air conditioning! When I went to bed that night, I noticed my legs STILL had the shimmer on them.

I also mixed it with my Pixi H20 Skin Tint gel-textured moisturizer (review coming soon!) for some subtle shimmer on my face, the same day.

Again, you can’t really tell, but it added an extra dimension to my makeup, a very soft glow.

The features and benefits of this product include diamond dust – a unique mineral pigment from Mica, which delivers the shimmer. Pyrus maple (apple) fruit extra rejuvenates the skin with firming and smoothing. Elderflower and blackberry extracts cool and soften the skin while antioxidants green and white tea extracts protect the skin from environmental damage. Grapefruit and orange peel extracts brighten and illuminate skin, and provide the citrus scent I mentioned.

Golden Shimmer retails for $32 and can be found here on the Jane Iredale site, or at select skin care specialists and beauty apothecaries worldwide.

What do you think of this shimmer product? I really love it for my face, and arms. I think I want something with a bit more color for my pale, pale legs. I’d love to hear what you think!

I think I’d really like this down my neck.

    • BeautyJudy

      Oh, that would be nice!

I really likes this body shimmer.

    • BeautyJudy

      Me too!

  • Betzy Carmona

It’s so pretty ! I love the glow

    • BeautyJudy

      Thanks Betzy!

This is really pretty! I would use it on my body…maybe not my face though.

    • BeautyJudy

Face seems to be the unpopular place here!

  • http://theplasticdiaries.com Kimmi @ The Plastic Diaries

It sounds cool in theory but the shimmer is a little large for my liking as a face product.

    • BeautyJudy

The shimmer isn’t large particles at all, and compared with a product like Gleam by Melanie Mills Body Radiance, the base color doesn’t translate to the skin, just the shimmer. But it’s not for everyone and I get that :)

  • http://www.painted-ladies.com/ Sheila Arkee

It wouldn’t show up on me at all! I love the way it looks on your face.

    • BeautyJudy

      Thanks Sheila!

  • FabZilla_Kath

Barely noticeable so it’s worth a try. I will use this mostly for my legs

    • BeautyJudy

I agree, I think this is more a leg thing, I might use a touch less on my face, and use it with a more matte foundation

  • http://www.slashedbeauty.com/ Miranda Mendoza

Wow I really like this shade… it reminds me of the peachy glow of Nars orgasm

    • BeautyJudy

It does! Except that peachy color doesn’t translate as well as the shimmer

  • Cosmetic Sanctuary

It’s beautiful! I’m not huge on body shimmer, but that’s so subtle I think I could deal with it!

    • BeautyJudy

It definitely looks more peachy than it translates on the skin!

  • Justina

    It’s beautiful!

    • BeautyJudy

      Thanks!

    i see the shimmah!!!!

    • BeautyJudy

      LOL!

    Fun!

    • BeautyJudy

      Yep!

  • http://www.beautybymissl.com/ beautybymissl

I think it would look great on tanned skin :)

    • BeautyJudy

      I agree!

  • Norah Salazar

I do very little shimmer and the subtlety here would probably work in my case. Less is more!

    • BeautyJudy

Agree with you on less is more :)

  • erikatheicyone

I would be all over this for my arms, shoulders and decollate. (Or however you spell that. :P) Smashing over a little self tanner on a hot summer night. 😀

    • BeautyJudy

I agree Erika, those are great ways to wear it!!! Love the idea of using it over self tanner!

  • http://www.manifestdestany.com/ Destany

I’m not a fan of shimmer anywhere on my skin. This would not work with me 😉

    • BeautyJudy

Then yes this is not for you

  • Anastasia

I’m not a fan of that much shimmer on the face, it looks almost “oily” to me. As nidia suggested, I’d probably use it only in the highlighter areas: cheeks, nose bridge, cupid’s bow.

    • BeautyJudy

It really wasn’t oily in real life, and I did use it as suggested by mixing it with my skin tint, and liked the effect in person.

  • http://beautylitfromwithin.blogspot.com Nidia Doherty

I’m not sure I like it on the face.. it’s a little too much shine for all over. Maybe just as a highlight? Unless it was moisturizing, I doubt I’d bother putting it on my legs, either. I think I may be too old for this product. The little old lady in my head doesn’t even think shaving is worth the bother half the time! lol.

    • BeautyJudy

I didn’t think the shine was overpowering, and never felt like I had a greasy face, but I can see how some are uncomfortable with a bit of shine to their face.

  • http://www.cosmeticsaficionado.com/ Cosmetics Aficionado

Interesting! I like that the effect is subtle, because disco ball is not my look lol

    • BeautyJudy

LOL, I’m imaging your face covered in glittery shimmer. But yes, this is definitely great for the maturing woman who doesn’t want the youthful glitter of their 20s. I consider myself more mature in my late 30s, so this is great.

  • Aleya Bamdad

I just started using this and I love it.

    • BeautyJudy

I’m glad to meet a fellow fan!

  • http://www.blushingnoir.com/ Brooke @ Blushing Noir

I love that it makes a noticeable difference but isn’t over-kill

    • BeautyJudy

The key words here: isn’t over kill! For sure. I like the subtlety

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

I received a similar product in a subscription bag. I didn’t think I could see any difference when I looked in the mirror, but I was surprised when I looked at a photo that I could see it. However, I’m not sure I’d go out and buy something like that as I’m not such a big fan of shimmer lotions. But it is fun to try it out :)

    • BeautyJudy

It’s not for everyone, I totally understand!
