Gleam by Melanie Mills Body Radiance – Rose Gold

Disclaimer: Purchased by me.

With the weather so beautiful lately – well, when we’re not getting spring showers! – I’m wearing a lot of dresses! And seriously – I hate wearing pantyhose, and spring and summer give me validation to skip them as an accessory!

If you follow my blog you know that my skin is pale with a capital “P.” My legs, which hardly ever see the sun, are some of the palest parts of my body!! I don’t let that stop me from wearing dresses and shorts, and occasionally I’ll use a self-tanner. But I recently discovered something that not only gives me a shade more of color, but makes my skin luminous, too: Gleam by Melanie Mills Body Radiance in Rose Gold.

Emmy Award-winning makeup artist Melanie Mills was at IMATS NYC last month, and that’s where I first learned about Body Radiance.

Melanie – who was the Makeup Department Head for Dancing with the Stars (she won an Emmy in 2008 for her work on that show!) for a number of years – told me in an interview that she developed Body Radiance during her tenure on the show as a way to add glow and moisture that would stay put, resist sweat, and even out spray tans on clients.

Body Radiance comes in four colors:

Left to right: Light Gold, Rose Gold, Bronze Gold, Deep Gold.

Melanie said that among the ingredients are aloe vera, jojoba oil and vitamin E. According to the brand website, Gleam Body Radiance can do the following:

  • Wrinkle Filler and skin tightener
  • Makes skin look like velvet perfection
  • Perfect for spray tans to enhance, even out skin, add depth and extend
  • Create an instant tan that lasts all night
  • Highlight, create a subtle glow, enhance natural skin tone, tan , perfect
  • Diminish flaws like varicose veins, small stretch marks and discoloration

So how did it hold up on me, an everyday consumer?

I wore a dress to my friend’s baby shower, and I decided to give this a go on my pale legs!

Here’s my legs before:

After one leg of Body Radiance Rose Gold (right leg done):

You can see the golden gleam of my legs, and that my skin is a touch darker than my left, untouched leg.

I included that second shot so you could see the gleam on the tops of my knees!

I noticed at the baby shower that my legs sweated. I tend to keep my legs crossed and my legs were sweating where they were crossed. I didn’t notice product coming off on anything, or rubbing off or creating an inconsistent look on my legs. It wore well.

I loved the appearance of my legs, and found the product easy to apply and use. I did need to wash my hands immediately after, as they were full of shimmer, so if you use this product, be somewhere you can wash your hands before you touch anything.

Body Radiance is sold in three sizes – 1 fl oz ($15), 2 fl oz. ($30) or 3.5 fl oz ($40). You can find it through the link in the first second paragraph of this post.

I love Rose Gold for my fair skin tone. While all the colors are meant to match different shades of skin, you don’t have to stick with what would match your skin perfectly; you can use any of the Body Radiance colors on yourself, they just might do different things. Dark Gold for me, for example, would help contour my look.

Have you ever tried Body Radiance?! Do you have a go-to product for adding shimmer and color to your skin in summer!?
