At IMATS NYC, I stopped by the City Color Cosmetics booth. Things were a little crazy, so while I said hi to them and introduced myself, I didn’t interview anyone, I just took a few pics of the makeup, and picked up a few products to try out!
I picked up a couple eye shadows/palettes, lipsticks, and these, Be Matte blushes! I thought the colors were beautiful, and vibrant, so I took home (left to right) Dragonfruit and Fresh Melon:
Here they are, swatched. On the right is a strong swipe of the colors, and on the left, are the colors blended out. You can see that while they are bright, they do blend out into nice hues, and are buildable!
Here’s how I used Dragonfruit. I kept the pink strong!
I was a little self conscious about the strength of Dragonfruit, as I wore this to work, and blotted it with a tissue mid-morning. But it was a beautiful and lasted all day.
Here’s how I wore Fresh Melon:
I blended out Fresh Melon for a softer look on my cheeks with a stronger pop of color on the apples of my cheeks. I LOVE Fresh Melon. Again, this held up all day, I didn’t notice any bad wear.
I used a regular blush brush with these, gathering up color, and tapping my brush before gently adding the color to my face.
At $2.99 a piece, I want more of these blushes! Blackberry, Guava and Pink Grapefruit are on my list, but at that price, I could even experiment with another bold color, like Blood Orange! See more here at the City Color website! City Color is sold at Rite Aid, too, but while I’ve seen other products I haven’t specifically seen these yet.
What do you think of the Be Matte blushes? Have you tried them? I’d love to hear what you think!
