But while walking around IBS New York City 2014 Sunday, I stopped to look at the colorful Orly booth. That’s when I spotted the Orly Baked collection for summer, and the neon hues really jumped out at me!
I made the impulse decision to get them. Check out swatches! I had to go back and forth between my camera and my iPhone, because the vibrant colors of some of these swatches were freaking out my Nikon!
Neon Heat is a hot pink neon. Eye-searing!
Ablaze is a beautiful neon orange with a shimmer I didn’t even realize it had until I started applying it! But it’s a golden shimmer you can see in my flash photo above. It gives Ablaze a glow in indoor lighting.
Tropical Pop is a cool neon orangey yellow. This is one of my favorites of the collection.
Lush is a spring green jelly with longish bar glitter and fine silver glitter. I used two coats, but then had to dab a bit into the middle of the nail because the polish pooled on the sides of my nails. I wasn’t impressed, but I would advise thinner coats and maybe a third for more opacity, and waiting in between coats. I’m thinking because I swatched it pooled quicker. I’m on the fence about this. I’m not sure I like it or not. It’s kinda random.
Hot Tropics is a hot fuchsia shimmer. Such a great summer color! the shimmer looks glass flecked.
Saturated is a neon purple. These two photos were the closest I could come of all the photos I took of this. It’s one of those hard-to-photograph purples, but stunning! It’s probably a smidge darker than my photos reveal it to be.
I did two coats for all these polishes, except Lush, which I had to dot more of in the middle of my nails because it pooled on the sides of my nails, as I mentioned.
The neons started drying matte, as neons are prone to do! The neons and the neon shimmers applied really nicely.
So what do you think of this summer collection? Do any of the colors jump out at you?! I think my favorites are Tropical Pop, Ablaze, Saturated and Hot Tropics!!
