Disclaimer: Purchased by me.
I came across something that I wasn’t expecting to see in my area so soon! A fellow beauty writer I follow on Instagram, @nicoleglevine , posted a display pic from New York City, but I didn’t think it’d be in our New Jersey area so quickly!
It’s the Jesse’s Girl Valentine’s Day promotion! It’s considered limited edition, but my contact at Jesse’s Girl (Christine!) told me that doesn’t rule out the possibility of their addition to the permanent line at this point.
“The Perfect Pair” includes three new lipsticks and three new nail polishes - Each Jesse’s Girl Lipstick and JulieG Nail Polish pair is color-matched, and named after famous couples (with the nail polish bearing the male’s name and the lipstick bearing the female’s name).
I had some time last night, and folks were excited about the launch when I posted my display shot on Instagram, so I wanted to get swatches and info up as soon as I could! I did swatches of the nail polishes, and a hand swatch of the lippies. I’ll do a post with lip swatches after I’ve had a chance to wear each one, and post those lip of the day photos on Instagram (@BeautyJudy).
I think I did as good a job I could capturing the colors of the polishes, but I really do prefer to take in sunlight vs. flash. But they are pretty close!! Anyway! Here’s the pairs, nail polish swatches, followed by the hand swatch of lipsticks!
Romeo & Juliet
Romeo is a beautiful coral pink creme nail polish, and & Juliet is a beautiful, coral pink lipstick. What an iconic pair to use in a V-day promotion! Star-crossed lovers.
Jesse’s Girl released its new lipstick line earlier last year (click here for original review), and I love it. Here’s a close up of the lipstick:
Aaaah, after so much glitter and glitz this holiday season, this pop of color is totally catching my eye. This creme is shown in two coats.
Anthony & Cleopatra
Anthony & Cleopatra are peachy pinks! What a strong pair. And a soft, yet strong color to pair with them!
Anthony is shown here in two coats! Pretty in peachy pink!
Fred & Ginger
Here’s a swatch of Fred:
Fred & Ginger are a bright pink pair! I grew up watching and loving Fred and Ginger movies. I loved watching the two of them so in tune with each other when they danced, and sometimes I would just stare at Ginger’s heeled feet in amazement as they would float across the dance floor on the TV screen. “Holiday Inn” is one of my favorites, (which also features Bing Crosby!)!
Anyway! Here’s the lipsticks!
From left to right: & Juliet, & Cleopatra, & Ginger.I have a feeling these creamy lippies won’t disappoint on wear. I went to rub them off my hand after about a half hour (I have possibly been guilty in the past of forgetting I have swatches on my hand and going to the grocery store or somewhere mundane, ha!) and a stain was left behind. I mean, I rubbed, guys! Check it out:
I am so excited to wear one of these pretty couples today!
Overall, the nail polishes were easy to apply, pigmented, opaque in two coats. The formula is on-par with the core line, which wears very well on me.
I will have to wear test the lipsticks before I give an opinion on wear, but they are creamy and vibrant! And, well, I shared the stain pic! I have strong hopes for wear!
These lovers retail for $3.99 each at Rite Aid, although availability will vary right now, I imagine. The one I went to by my office was just SUPER prepared for Valentine’s Day…on January 2, lol! These couples will also be available online at Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics website here
(they’re not quite yet!) These are now available on the Jesse’s Girl website HERE!
So what do you think? I LOVE the theme! It’s so clever. I think Fred & Ginger are my favorite, possibly for sentimental movie-watching reasons…but I’m feeling all of these right now.
I think I’m about to have a very pink 2014, guys. Whoa.
I’d love to hear your thoughts below, and whether you’ve spotted these and picked any of the pairs up for yourself!
