Me and my wedding manicurist, O’nisha from Koco Nails and Wax Salon
I looked forward to marrying the love of my life on my wedding day; I couldn’t wait!
But you know what else? I really, really looked forward to getting my nails done for my wedding, too!
I decided that I couldn’t do my own nails. Yes, I could do my own makeup, but my nails? That felt like a LOT of pressure for this beauty/nail blogger!
I decided that I wanted to go somewhere to get them done that would create nail art the way I admire in my Instagram feed. The kind of nail art I see from the celebrity manicurists and nail artists I follow around the country.
So when it came time to make my decision, I called up Koco Nail Salon and Wax Studio in Philadelphia. I had met owner O’nisha about two and a half years ago while covering Katie Cazorla’s mobile mani tour bus promoting the first season of “The Nail Files” on TV Guide network. O’nisha was one of the manicurists giving out free manis on the bus.
I never forgot her or her outgoing personality, and I started following her on Twitter (@koconails). Eventually, I started following her on Instagram (@koconails), and I loved what I saw! Stilettos. Lots of jewels. Great designs. I knew she was the one I had to see for my wedding nails!
I scheduled my appointment for the Thursday before my Saturday wedding. I was at the salon for maybe two hours, sipping a glass of wine and enjoying the friendly women in the salon. As O’nisha worked on my nails, we chatted and caught up, talked shop, talked nail colors and trends, and at the end of it, this is what my nails looked like:

O’nisha used Gelish Pink Smoothie as the base, and added a TON of rhinestones and jewels all over for the most unique manicure I’ve ever had.
This last picture is a picture of my mani about five or six days after I had my nails done; I was on my honeymoon and still receiving a TON of compliments, everywhere I went in Disney! I lost the larger flower jewel off my ring finger (the night after the wedding, actually, after arriving in Disney. I knocked it off something fierce when I was unpacking) and lost a couple small rhinestone from my thumb. But otherwise, this mani was SOLID.
Removal was a bear. I’m not gonna lie! I did damage my nails taking all this off, and I’m growing out the damage still. I wonder if I would have been better served by going back to O’nisha to get my mani professional removed.
And just because one set of nails is not enough…my beautiful friends Krystal from Polish Galore and Christine from Jesse’s Girl BOTH wore JulieG Sugar Plum Fairy from the new Holiday Frosted Gum Drops collection to my wedding - totally unplanned! And it looked fab! We had the photographer take a picture of our nails, and of us:

I’ll post more wedding photos and fun later, but I wanted to share my wedding nails!!!
So what do you think – are they too over the top for you?! Would you/did you do something like this for your wedding nails?! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
