It’s Monday, November 11. That means two things:
- I’m MARRIED!!!!
- I’m in Disney World on my honeymoon!!!!
This week I have some GREAT posts coming from some of my favorite people and bloggers, who are gracious to help me keep things fresh here on BeautyJudy, because the last few weeks have been cray cray leading up to Saturday’s wedding! I’m sure you’ve noticed my periods of absence, it’s been nuts!
Although I’m not that great as to be able to get a post up Monday about what I looked like on my wedding day Saturday (we left for Disney yesterday afternoon, so this is our first full day in town!), I thought I’d post my hair and makeup trial, from about four weeks ago. I’ll post more from the wedding when I get our wedding pictures back!
My makeup was a tough decision. I’m a colorful person. I don’t fear wearing colorful eye shadows or lippies. But for my wedding, my dress was so extravagant, I carried a brooch bouquet…I just didn’t want to be gaudy. I chose to express my color creativity in other ways for my wedding, so I chose to keep my makeup demure, more like an enhanced me.
First off, I went to the salon, and my stylist, Arielle, at Ulta in Deptford, NJ, gave me a do based on some pictures and explanations of what I hoped for! I see Arielle on the regular for my hair cuts and colors (something I was overdue for when I went for my trial but don’t worry, I went back to see her before the wedding for a touch up!)
And oh my gosh did it hurt like the dickens. My hair was PINNED and it wasn’t going ANYWHERE.
I took the tiara off for the day, but sported the hair style all evening into the night, about midnight/1 a.m., to give it a proper test drive! It held up well and I had a headache. Oh, the price you pay for an up do! hahaha.
After I had my hair done, and I had lunch with my maid of honor, I went home and took out some makeup products to figure out how I wanted to do my face. I already told you what drove my decision, so here’s a look at what I used:
- CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation + Ensulizole Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 20 in 805, Ivory
- Inglot Loose Powder #11
- Model in a Bottle (original)
- MAC Cosmetics eye shadows in Vex (across lid), Scene (in crease and outer corner)
- Make Up For Ever Star Powder in #24M
- Urban Decay Primer Potion (original)
- Maybelline MegaPlush Mascara (waterproof, in Very Black)
- Lush Cosmetics Feeling Younger under eye tint
- Jesse’s Girl black Liquid Eyeliner
- MAC Cosmetics blush in Stunner
- Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Color in #15
Close-up of my eye:
It was right before I went to the salon to get my brows waxed, forgive my growth lol!
I am so happy with how it all turned out that day! Of course, I’m writing this in advance of my wedding so I’m hoping it all looked as perfect as it did for me in the trial but I have faith!
I picked the products I did because they have served me well. Like the Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner? It’s my GO TO long-lasting liquid liner. The Make Up For Ever lipstick I chose to last through the words, “You may now kiss your bride!” And the mascara, well, I chose that because MegaPlush is my Holy Grail and waterproof – it goes without saying
I hope you enjoy the guest posts scheduled for the rest of the week! What do you think of my wedding hair and makeup?!
