Earlier this year, JESSICA introduced a new line of polish called “Effects.” Under the Effects line, JESSICA launched a blingtastic collection called “Glitzy,” a six-piece of glitter bombs that are totally on trend.
While at Cosmoprof in July, the brand told me that the Effects line was an opportunity for JESSICA to experiment with trendy glitters and textures.
“Each is quite the ‘party in a bottle,’ made to wear alone or over any of your favorite custom colors,” said Jessica Vartoughian, CEO and founder of JESSICA Cosmetics, in a press release. “These brilliant glitters are perfect to mix, match and layer, for an ultra-glam jeweled look.”
How about some swatches?!
Star Spangles (FX 2007):
Star Spangles is a clear jelly base with blue, red and silver glitters of different sizes inside. This is a great patriotic polish for my American friends!
Sparkles (FX 2006):
Sparkles is charcoal tinted jelly with different size holographic glitters. I loved this one! You can build it up in opacity and wear it alone or top it over another polish. This is shown in two coats here.
Razzle Dazzle (FX 2008):
Razzle Dazzle is a clear jelly base with different size blue glitter and holographic bar glitter.
Sizzle (FX 2009):
Sizzle is a clear jelly base with different size red glitter. I’ve used two coats for my swatch here, I’m not sure that I’d build this up to opacity on its own.
Bling in Black (FX 2011):
Bling in Black is a clear jelly base with black and white glitter. I used two coats for this swatch. Another one that I’d prefer to use as a topper.
Glam It Up (FX 2010):
Glam It Up is a clear jelly base with purple and silver glitter of different sizes. This is shown in two coats, another great topper.
Here’s swatches of the Glitzy polishes over JESSICA’s fall collection, A Night at the Opera.
Over Opening Night:
Bling in Black, Razzle Dazzle, Glam It Up and Sparkles.
Here’s some over Overture:
And over Velvet & Pearls:
Star Spangles, Glam It Up, Sparkles and Razzle Dazzle.
Overall, these are nice, on-trend glitters. They really stand out best when they are applied over other polishes. Speaking of application, it was fine; there were a couple where I felt myself having to dab the polish onto my nails vs. applying in the second coat, like Glam It Up.
I like the long, lean rectangular bottles of the Effects line.
You can find Effects on JESSICA’s website for $8.30, but I don’t see the Glitzy line on the site at this time. These are also supposed to be available at salons and spas internationally. I also did a quick Google search and saw JESSICA and Effects available through eBay.
So what do you think of JESSICA’s new Effects Glitzy collection? See any must-haves?! I really dig Star Spangles and Sparkles best!
