NYX Cosmetics launched three nail kits earlier this year centered around the micro bead embellishment mani called “Precious Pearls.”
At first, when NYX told me about Precious Pearls, I thought it was the brand’s answer to the texture trend, and it would be a polish along the lines of Nails Inc. Beaded Polish. I was pretty stoked. I was then surprised when it ended up being a fish egg mani kit, but I was intrigued nonetheless. I haven’t done this type of 3D nail art in a while, so I set out the kits to have some fun.
The kits come with two bottles; a NYX nail polish and a bottle of microbeads, or “pearls.” The pearl bottles have stoppers, which is great.
The kit also comes with a funnel (so you can put excess pearls back and use them later) and the way the packaging is set up, there is a neat little plastic tray that’s perfect to use to pour the pearls over your nail and to catch the excess pearls.
Black on black – chic!! This is black nail polish and black pearls.
This was the first one I tried, and as I poured silver pearls onto my ring finger some got on my middle finger! I thought it actually looked neat so I left it like that! This kit comes with a white nail polish.
Also, despite the nifty stopper, I dumped this bottle of beads onto my living room floor. I managed to get everything swept up before the cat came out wondering what was going on LOL.
Opal Pearls is my favorite, with a mix of blue, black and white micro beads. It comes with a black nail polish.
These kits are really easy to use and I love that the packaging helps keep everything together, and is useful for application (the dish-like tray is awesome!).
So what do you think of the microbead-embellished nail? Which kit appeals to you the most? Having the three of them, I can mix and match between the white and black nail polishes, and the different colored beads! I do find the microbead mani to be impractical for everyday, and I prefer the look for a night out.
The kits can be found for $9.99 each on the NYX Cosmetics website. They’re also available through Beauty Joint, eBay, Amazon, and Urban Outfitters.
