I recently had the opportunity to try a brand that’s new to me, Vapour Organic Beauty.
Whenever I have the chance to check out products from a new line, I always like to know the story behind the brand. So I took to the website to check it out before I even tried the products.
Cofounders Krysia Boinis and Kristine Keheley have made a career creating products for other brands, and they worked with Eric Sakas, former president of Kevyn Aucoin Beauty, to bring their own makeup line to life.
Vapour’s cosmetics are only made from certified organic plants, minerals and vitamins, and the company is environmentally conscious, creating its products with sustainability in mind. The brand is also cruelty-free.
Of the products I’ve been testing, it’s probably no surprise that Siren Lipstick really jumped out at me! I tested Vapour’s two new-for-summer shades, Courage and Pin-Up.
Siren Lipstick is described by the brand as delivering “superior texture, rich color and soothing hydration in an innovative petroleum-free and chemical-free formula.”
So how did it do?
Courage is a classic red shade. Thirty-percent of the proceeds of Courage sales go to the Center for the Intrepid, a division of Brook Army Medical Center. The center provides state-of-the-art medical care and rehabilitation for wounded veterans.
Lipstick for veterans? SIGN ME UP! It’s fitting that a classic, patriotic red provides these benefits!
Courage wore on me all morning long, from the time I applied it til lunch, approximately four and a half to five hours.
Pin-Up is a a great, light pop of color for me and my fair skin! It’s a poppy coral shade that gives a kiss of color, and enhances skin.
Pin-Up didn’t stay as long on my lips as Courage, I found it to wear off a little before lunch time.
Overall, I love the packaging of these lipsticks; especially the gentle blue and the silver accents. The tubes come in individual boxes.
The lipsticks felt a little tough at first when I started applying them; they didn’t immediately glide across my lips, but as they warmed up it was fine. I felt I had great control in application with the tube style, and I had to do very little to clean up the edges of my upper lip (which I have to do a lot with some kinds of lippies).
These lipsticks retail for $22 on the Vapour Organic Beauty website, and there are 20 other colors in addition to Courage and Pin-Up. I usually balk at prices that I would consider high with brands I’m not familiar with, but after reading the brand’s story and learning about the organic ingredients, I feel like you’re paying for really top-notch formulas. I would buy a lipstick from this line, but it would be a color that I would get a lot of use from – looking at the site, Desire, Restraint and Vibe really jump out at me.
Have you ever heard of Vapour Organic Beauty? What do you think of these lipsticks? Is this something you’d try? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
