About a week and a half ago, I posted here that I planned to take the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Cleanser 7-day Challenge!

I started using it about 10 days ago, and I can tell you that my verdict is in and it’s a total thumbs up! This cleanser has done a great job – here are the results of my challenge. I actually finished my questionnaire after only a couple days of using the cleanser (Oops! I was eager, what can I say?!), but I stand by the results as I look back and review them:

my challenge

This cleanser not only removed my makeup really well (hardly any WATERPROOF mascara left on my lashes – so awesome!) but it left my skin clean and refreshed and was very gentle. I struggle with rosacea, and always worry about my cleansers, moisturizers and makeup. But this cleanser didn’t cause me to break out, itch or have any of the other symptoms I associate with my skin problem.

Here’s the ingredients:

I wish I knew what caused this cleanser to smell so good. I just want it as a perfume! Unfortunately on the ingredients it’s listed as “fragrance” with no explanation. It’s a light, clean scent.

Here it is in my hand:

I found that it wasn’t always as foamy as other cleansers, but that doesn’t matter to me:

As I looked at the challenge’s wrap-up of results, I find that my thoughts about this product were very much in line with what others said. To date of my writing this post, 14,485 people took the challenge! Of those folks:

  • 34% felt the cleanser left their skin smooth and soft
  • 32% (like me!) said it left them clean and refreshed.
  • “All of it,” was what the majority of people liked about the cleanser. I choose “it removes my makeup,” which ranked fourth in what people liked.
  • 41% of people felt the light scent of the cleanser was “a nice surprise” while only 13%, my group, felt they “want to wear it!”
  • 94% of people who took the challenge would recommend the cleanser to friends. Wow!

When I was first diagnosed with rosacea, my dermatologist recommended I use a gentle cleanser. I’m going back to see my derm’s office this week for the first time in several years and I’ll be proud to say this is the product I’m using now.

Do you still want to take the challenge?!

You can receive a $2 off coupon for the cleanser if you want to participate in the Challenge. Then, if you take your own assessment, like I did, you will receive a $3 off coupon when you purchase Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser and Ultra Sheer Sunscreen. You can find the initial coupon here!

Did you already take the challenge? What did you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this cleanser!

This cleanser retails for $8.99. You can get it through Neutrogena’s website here or you can find it in stores where you typically see Neutrogena. I haven’t quite looked for it yet but I know Ulta and a lot of drugstores carry Neutrogena skin care products.

Cheers to clean, calm skin!

I wish “sensitive” cleansers would be formulated without cocamidopropyl betaine…that gives me red flaky skin and is in SO.MANY.THINGS.

I’m sorry to hear that, kitwings! I guess I am lucky that my skin doesn’t react to that ingredient in that way. But thank you for mentioning this, I didn’t realize it could cause those issues!
